Baroness Loses Stars and Respect for Openers
by Bea123 on 11/28/23Roxian Theatre - PittsburghBaroness was fine, five stars - except they changed their setlist to songs that all sounded pretty similar, and I was really looking forward to songs they didn’t play. More importantly, I have never in my life wanted to leave a concert more than during those openers. Spotlights could have been okay, but their mix was all wrong with instruments overpowering each other. Ben Opie on sax with them made it a little better, but still he was overpowered by their terrible sound levels. We thought it couldn’t get any worse, because at least they could have been good under the right circumstances. We were really wrong. Soul Glo was horrible - like a train wreck and dumpster fire. We fled to the halls to get away from that crime against music (and, as we found out after, that some of them were literally criminals). I’ve never seen so many people standing outside the doors at the bar waiting for the act to just stop already. Honestly, I probably would not ever see a band who toured with them again, because I’d lose as much respect as I had for Baroness to have that as one of their openers.
