About

Madeline Ashton is the most beautiful actress (just ask her) ever to grace the stage and screen. Helen Sharp is the long-suffering author (just ask her) who lives in her shadow. They have always been the best of frenemies...until Madeline steals Helen's fiance away. As Helen plots revenge and Madeline clings to her rapidly fading star, their world is suddenly turned upside down by Viola Van Horn, a mysterious woman with a secret that's to die for.

After one sip of Viola's magical potion, Madeline and Helen begin a new era of life (and death) with their youth and beauty restored...and a grudge to last eternity.

Starring Tony Award nominees Megan Hilty (Wicked, "Smash"), Jennifer Simard (Company, Disaster!), and Christopher Sieber (Spamalot, Company), with Grammy Award winner Michelle Williams (Destiny's Child, Chicago), Death Becomes Her, based on the classic 1992 film, is a drop-dead hilarious new musical comedy about friendship, love, and burying the hatchet...again, and again, and again.

Life's a bitch and then you die. Or not!

I see a ton of theatre and I was blown away by this show! Everything-book, music, acting singing, costumes, sets—all were just top notch! This is a show not to miss. Plus I just read it’s moving to Broadway so catch it in Chicago if you can. It is sure to be next season’s huge hit!!!

    Mother’s Day Celebration

by HonestP on 5/15/24Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Spoilers included…I want to give it 5 stars on the performance and the actors! 4 stars for changing a couple crucial aspects and following the movie basically in its entirety otherwise. I can see making it their own and changing some material, I just wish it wasn’t those two scenes. I didn’t like that Helen pushed Madilyn down the stairs (the stairs scene otherwise was amazing! Best slow motion fall ever!) I also didn’t like that Helen was in hospital scene. Helen wasn’t needed with the doctor skit and Ernest if they were to follow the movie like the rest of the musical, the hospital scene could’ve been funnier with just the Dr & Ernest. Not to downplay the actress that played Helen because personally she was my favorite character! I also didn’t care for the ending. I wish they would’ve stuck to the movie script instead. It would’ve been funnier. Very talented cast and gorgeous dresses!!!! I definitely recommend especially if you haven’t seen the movie!

by Costume goddess on 5/14/24Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Great show, laughed from the start til the end. Costumes were gorgeous, the acting didn't disappoint. This show is right on point with its following. If you can only see one show this year come see Death Becomes Her.

    Phenomenal Performance

by NikkiT on 5/14/24Cadillac Palace - Chicago

The Death Becomes Her stageplay was spectacular and exceeded all of my expectations. A great way to revitalize the original movie. I had one of the best seats in the house located in the Dress Circle front and center. All performances were awesome and I would recommend anyone to go and see this stage play before it ends on June 2nd.

    Funniest Musical Comedy in Years

by DanishNYC on 5/14/24Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Honestly, I can't remember the last time that a brand new musical comedy was this funny without resorting to farce. Megan Hilty was perfectly cast in the role - the the extent that it's hard to imagine the work in anyone else's hands. Her and Jennifer Simard are simply magic together - and I feel so fortunate that Chicago got to see this cast before the head to Broadway. Their humor was matched by their vocals, the choreography, the sets, and the daring risk the producers took to bring something to the stage that is actually for an adult audience.
