Philadelphia 76ers History

The Philadelphia 76ers were one of the league's first franchises. Founded in 1946 and playing their first NBA season in 1949, the team was introduced as the Syracuse Nationals and played home games in upstate New York.

After moving to Philadelphia in 1963 and adopting the 76ers moniker in honor of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in the city in 1776, the team has had a prominent history featuring several players who would go on to be inducted into the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame: Dolph Schayes, Hal Greer, Wilt Chamberlain, Billy Cunningham, Bobby Jones, Julius Erving, Maurice Cheeks, Moses Malone, Charles Barkley, and Allen Iverson.

The 76ers have made 52 playoff appearances and earned nine trips to the NBA Finals, winning three World Championships. Chamberlain, Erving, Malone, Iverson and Joel Embiid have all also been named the NBA Most Valuable Player while playing for the 76ers, for a total of seven MVP awards.

The Philadelphia 76ers organization is part of the Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment ownership group.

    A win is a win

by Barry from Berks on 3/21/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Good overall experience, Sixers got a win ! Only reason for not a higher review was Sixers stars were injured- Embiid and Harris and Miami’s Butler was injured.

    Fun Saturday Night

by Section735 on 3/19/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Had tickets in the Assembly Room for a group of seven of us. No problems getting up to the seating area, loved the couches and fire places that were up there, we had a blast watching the game from there or from the standing room area. Great time, we will be back for sure.

    Assembly Room

by Dan on 3/19/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

The Assembly Room itself, is great value for the price. It’s no secret though that the food is outrageously over priced. Little value for the money spent there though but I don’t expect that to change.

    A fun night, however......

by Bob on 3/11/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

We really enjoyed the game even though our team lost! The entertainment during game breaks was unexpected but added a lot to the evening. Two negatives: (1) could not get actual tickets but had to download them to our cell - not a big deal but a bit annoying (2) the food at the Wells Fargo Center was lousy and way, way over priced. You are not allowed to bring anything in, and with a captive crowd, the gauging was outrageous!

    Waste of money

by Vic on 3/9/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Tickets cost a fortune, and the Sixer’s played horribly.

    Great seats Bad basketball

by David on 2/28/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Spent $900+ on three tickets. The game was awful worst basketball I have seen in person in a long time. What a waste of time and money. The Sixers are a bad product that is not worth watching anywhere. Without Embiid the Sixers are one of the worst teams in the NBA. No effort no energy and no win

    Better instructions for parking

by Ed on 2/25/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Overall very positive. As a constructive criticism, I think Ticketmaster can provide better instructions for parking. Maybe include a map attached to the ticket or list the parking lot letter. Also, if you can provide feedback to the venue, they could use some traffic preparation to ensure better and safer flow of cars in and out. You can use other cities’ procedures as reference. Overall the parking process looked disorganized (we were visiting Philly). Thank you.
