Roseanne was entertaining & the venue wonderful! Hope to see her and the band again
Already a Rosanne Cash fan, I left her terrific performance with her compelling husband and splendid admiring her even more. Seeing her at The Birchmere made the evening even better.
I believe Rosanne Cash's songwriting markedly improved over the past 15 years. Her last 2 albums are sublime. Truly wonderful. She's a poet with an angel's voice. Her earlier work I think is not world class, worth remembering. Specifically, her work from the '90s is pretty "meh." So, my disappointment is around their choice of songs. Also, Levanthal--one of the world's great guitarists--had an off night. But now I'm being picky because my expectations for him are high. i put him in the same league as David Gilmour & Mark Knofler.
RC is one of America’s treasures. This show focused on the anniversary of her album, “The Wheel,” and she was in great voice. Obviously enjoyed returning to the Birchmere. The band was tight; a great evening.
Outstanding performance at the legendary Birchmere Music Hall. The intimate atmosphere allows audience to feel connected to the performers and Rosanne Cash responded with great songs and made you feel she was connected direct to you. Her voice was prime and her conversation warm and engaging.
Roseanne never disappoints! She, her husband John and his band played at the iconic Birchmere in Alexandria VA. It was a perfect combination to make the evening special, exciting, and fun! See you again next year.
We had a wonderful time at the concert. Our seating were great. The food and drinks were awesome. Meeting everyone was the best.
The informal type of concert was great! I enjoyed this concert more than any concert I've attended in the past 20 years. The performers, Rosanne Cash, Rodney Crowell, Sara Jarosz, and John Leventhal, were outstanding.
Rosanne Cash was wonderful as she always is. With the emphasis of this event on songwriting, she and her husband/producer John Leventhal performed many of their eloquently written songs. She shares with the audience how the songs came about and what they mean to her and her family. (This event benefited the Johnny Cash Boyhood Home and Historic Dyess Colony where her father grew up.) Adding to Rosanne & John's beautiful performance was Sarah Jarosz, an amazingly talented young woman who began writing and playing guitar as a child and has only become more talented. Her lyrics are imbued with strong sentiments that everyone can relate to and her guitar and mandolin playing is incredible. Rodney Crowell rounded out the songwriters and performers. His music is well-known to so many and speaks to the feelings we all experience. He joined John in a couple of Johnny Cash tunes, making them his own. "Understand Your Man"is a JC song that is rarely heard, but Rodney did it beautifully. He also sang "I Still Miss Someone,"not only one of Johnny's best songs but one that has been recorded by dozens of other artists. The entire event was magical. Rosanne always makes it so.
