About

Trans-Siberian Orchestra On Tour

The holidays rock a whole lot harder than they ever have thanks to Trans-Siberian Orchestra. By infusing seasonal classics with rock flamboyance, a symphonic sense of scope, and an eye-popping visual presentation complete with lasers and pyrotechnics, what began as a side project for a veteran group of American hard rockers has grown into one of today's top-selling acts, with over 10 million concert tickets sold since 1999.

Now, to celebrate the band's 20th year on the road, Trans-Siberian Orchestra is mounting an all-new production of the show that first turned them into an arena-rock phenomenon. First performed in 1999 and recorded for a TV special – which became just as much of a holiday staple as ‘The Sound of Music' – ‘The Ghosts of Christmas Eve' was conceived by Paul O'Neill, TSO's original mastermind. A veteran producer for acts like Aerosmith and Savatage, O'Neill was inspired by the rock operas of The Who and the grandly theatrical concerts of Pink Floyd to create something that was even more spectacular. Together with Savatage members Jon Oliva, Bob Kinkel, and Al Pitrelli, O'Neill developed a unique project that married the spirit of the season with all the exhilarating sounds, operatic grandeur, and visual bravura that fans had come to expect of rock gods. After the massive success of TSO's first two albums, ‘Christmas Eve and Other Stories' and ‘The Christmas Attic,' O'Neill and his team took it on the road (and TV screens) with similarly blockbuster results.

Though TSO's repertoire would extend far beyond holiday songs to encompass the greats of classical music on ‘Beethoven's Last Night' and O'Neill's own original rock operas like ‘Night Castle,' their thrilling and highly singular take on seasonal music remains their trademark. Tragically, O'Neill's passing in 2017 robbed the music world of a true visionary. But his team of friends and collaborators in the Trans-Siberian Orchestra honor his legacy with a new production of ‘The Ghosts of Christmas Past' that both preserves and revitalizes a landmark merger of music, theatrics, storytelling, and seasonal cheer that yielded an international phenomenon.

  • TSO

by shelly on 3/20/25Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

Was looking forward to seeing TSO, had seen them over 15 years ago. Believe it or not, many of the original band are still playing. The Christmas-specific story seemed overly dramatic and the plot-line jarring. The AI graphics were pretty cheesy, not in a good way. The show was really long, after the Christmas part was about 10minute intermission and then another hour (over 2 hours total). The band is high energy and the pyrotechnics are cool. They use many different effects throughout the show to keep it interesting. Overall it was an enjoyable show, and we had a good time. This would be a fun show for families with kids. I'm probably good for another 10 years.

  • Fabulous & Entertaining Year after Year

by Cassandra on 2/20/25Allstate Arena - RosemontRating: 5 out of 5

I have purchased the same two seats every year. I would guess I have been going for at least ten years, probably more. The story may change a bit but they continue to wow me with the fabulous musicians, singers and narrators. The special effects are excellent. As a professional photographer, I have gotten great pictures. These pictures have succeeded in bringing others into the TSO Christmas event and they want to come every year. I also appreciate that a portion of ticket sales goes to a charity. (Didn't Hallmark once sponsor them in some way? This year it wasn't mentioned and I don't recall what charity they were playing for this past year.) I will continue to be in the upper deck, dead center every year. I turn 70 in March and for every year I'm alive, I'll be in my usual place with or without a companion. Keep up the fantastic work. And I hope I have many more years to enjoy what you give me in the best of Christmas presents. God bless all that makes these incredible people shine. I've seen a lot of band performances in my life. I would hardly call TSO just "a band". The story, the music and their incredible show puts them in a class by themselves. God bless them, each and everyone. Thank you for the Christmas gift you give me year after year. Until Christmas, 2025...

  • Venue needs exhaust fans

by K3 Point 94.1 Fan on 2/14/25Simmons Bank Arena - North Little RockRating: 3 out of 5

The performance was excellent -- great sound - story & visuals BUT if there are two shows in one day be sure to go to the first show There was a 330P show AND a 730P show at Simmons in Little Rock When arriving for the 730 show there was still a lot of dense smoke still in the upper part of the arena just hovering above and not being exhausted out At the 90 minute mark of that show with all the cool pyro effects the existing cloud has doubled and now there is a dense cloud about midway up the second level stands My wife then started experiencing eye itching and burning to the point we had to leave We would have loved to have seen the whole performance but just would not be subjected to that atmosphere any longer Others we knew went to the first show and stated that it was not a problem for them & they had almost the exact seat location as we did AGAIN the performance was amazing -- Someone just needed to keep the smoke removed as it was being generated

This show never disappoints! The music was awesome. The only thing I didn't like was the narrator's voice, which was a little muffled. I don't know if that was due to the venue or the location of our seats. If I went to this venue again, I would definitely choose a lower section.

  • One of best concerts ever!

On Dec 22nd, 2024 I saw the Trans-Siberian Orchestra show "The Lost Christmas Eve"and it was one of the most excellent stage and musical experiences I've had in my entire life. And with over 500 concerts attended since 1967 that's saying a lot. Parking was a challenge, the entrance being only 1 and small, not clearly signed in advance. When I finally found it after a half hour of circling around and a chorus of "I'm not quite sure"or "I think it might be over there", I finally stumbled onto the ramp entry, not without some angry honks from other traffic goers. However, I caught over 95% of the show, including "Wizards in Winter", which came only 8-10 minutes into the show. The story was notably different than the PBS Holiday special featuring a teenage runaway, attempting to escape her difficult, but not impossible home predicament. In THAT storyline, the venerable stage and screen actor, Ossie Davis played the protagonist's spirit guide to gently bring her "back to earth"& return to her family. I won't spoil the show for any of you who may go to see and hear this multi-level stage experience by giving the details to the narration. Check out the You Tube video for this show, the time of that recording was the late fall of 2024, I think November 2024, though there are several such videos on You Tube.
