It was a family affair when A-C All Stars played Durham on 4/23. By the end of the performance, the crowd was on their feet, dancing and singing.
The performers wanted to create this show into a party and the venue stopped people from dancing! How can you stop people from dancing and a latin/salsa show? Very disappointed in the way concierge hovered around the hall the whole time basically acting like police. People are there to have fun and enjoy music, loosen up!
The band is amazingly talented and the band leader is lovable. I took my Cuban born mom and she had a blast!
The Lopez-Nussa Trio were wonderful musicians. The Juan de Marcos band were powerful and you could tell they loved performing. It was not just a concert but a party!
The concert from beginning to end was amazing and the music was phenomenal!!!!
Three generations of accomplished all star musicians, directly from Havana, performed Cuba's very best music as a well oiled machine. They were simply great. Their love shined bright. We could not have been more pleased and impressed.
High energy, great music, wonderful evening. I highly recommend this act to everyone who enjoys dancing to the music.
Master musicians, great music!! They created a fantastic atmosphere and the concert became like a big party! Juan de Marcos and the main singer came down from the stage, sang and danced among the people and even posed for pictures.
Dr. Juan De Marcos González brought the Afro Cuban All Stars to the Howard Theatre for a single performance on Thursday 5/4/2016. I have been fascinated with Juan's sound since first hearing the Buena Vista Social Club CD back in 1996. The complex rhythms and syncopated beat is electric and sensual. The audience danced casino style to many of the songs. The only way to stop moving in time to the music was to wait for the end of the show which regrettably came about 90 minutes after the first song, "Con Cierto Baroka." Everyone I talked to at the venue agreed that they could have danced and listened until well after midnight. Many of Juan's family were in the band including his wife, two daughters and three sons. This was an extremely memorable event. Juan and the band even took time to talk to the concert-goers on the street shortly before departing for the evening.
