The choreography was outstanding. The leading dancers made the love story come alive . The last dance in the first act was stunning. This was an amazing experience.

The play was done very well from the costumes to the sets. It reminded me of the cartoon I would watch growing up.

The performance was great I especially enjoyed the variety of the three numbers included: from beautifully classic ballet to modern ballet dancing with the outstanding "Play"' Mr Welch is undoubtedly one of the leading artists of American ballet, and the Houston ensemble will soon be the top ballet company of the nation, congratulations!

  • Aladdin was remarkable, the office not so much.

I brought my daughter to our first trip to a ballet ; also our first visit to your Theater. We purchased seats in the first row of the balcony. I didn't realize the balcony was steep and the ceiling was so high in that area, when I bought the tickets. When we sat down my daughter became scared because the ceiling was high, and the seats gave the sensation that she was sliding downward. I went downstairs to the office, and asked if we could switch seats somewhere under the balcony. The lady behind the desk told us there were no other seats available, although there were many vacancies. This nonchalant attitude seemed rather callous . My daughter and I were able to find seats on the 2nd floor under the balcony, where we enjoyed the show.

Excellent! The stage set up, costumes and dancing were all spectacular, great family fun! I took my mom to this ballet for her birthday and she loved it as well. The program was great, with 2 intermissions and overall fabulous.

  • Extravagant show, lots of fun - kids loved it!

We saw the Houston Ballet perform Aladdin in Chicago and I was very impressed. The dancing was beautiful, the costumes and set design went all out, and the music was delightful. I was particularly impressed with how polished the show felt. One critique: The show was too long. I'm not sure if this was so they could legitimately have two intermissions, or what. In particular, the scene where all of the different gems dance in the cave went on far too long. The dances were lovely, but nothing exceptional, and you definitely had the gist after the first two. Especially as a show that includes children in its target audience, I think at least 20 min (or more!) could be trimmed to enhance the show and the audience's experience. Overall, the kids (ages 4, 6, and 9) loved it, in spite of the length, and the other adult and I both had a lot of fun - win win.
