Jimmy Eat World in Concert

Jimmy Eat World started in 1993 as a punk trio formed by childhood friends Jim Adkins and Zach Lind. After years of hard work in the studio and on the road, the band settled on a poppier sound, hitting the spotlight in 2001 with breakthrough album Bleed American. The album included several successful singles including "The Middle," which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became an MTV staple. After extensive touring in support of the album, the band returned to the studio for 2004's Futures, which peaked at No. 6 and earned the band another No. 1 single with "Pain." Chase This Light in 2007 and Invented in 2010 would achieve similar success, cementing the band's role as one of the most successful indie acts in the business.

In 2013, Jimmy Eat World celebrated 20 years of independently released records with Damage, their critically-acclaimed eighth studio album. At their live concerts, the band delivers a blast of non-stop energy and enthusiasm, delighting ticket buyers with heavy guitar riffs, boisterously precise drum solos, and three-part vocal harmonies anchored by the familiar croon of frontman Jim Adkins. 2013's Damage saw the band transition from teen-angst rock towards a more sophisticated sound, with lyrical content taking on a markedly more mature tone on singles like the album's title track and "I Will Steal You Back."

Jimmy Eat World on Tour

Jimmy Eat World announced their Criminal Energy Tour in 2020. The 20-date summer run starts in Atlanta, GA on August 6, 2020 and culminates in a hometown gig in Phoenix, AZ, Labor Day Weekend, on September 5, 2020. New Jersey-based The Front Bottoms join the tour as direct support with Turnover and Joyce Manor splitting the duties of opening the festivities on select dates. Jimmy Eat World continues the 2020 roadshow in support of their "bold, brave and ultimately defiant" (NME) 10th studio album, Surviving. With 10 records to pull from, the sets will prove to satisfy all fans new and old. Over the course of their career, Jimmy Eat World have sold venues such as Saint Andrews Hall (Detroit) to capacity, as well as 713 Music Hall (Houston), and The Masonic (San Francisco).

I love Jimmy Eat world!! I haven't seen them in over a decade and they were even better than I remember. Jim plays his heart out and the setlist was great. I can't wait to see them again! I had great seats, but next time I will definitely be on the floor!! Thanks for a great show!!

Great show, three great bands. What stamina! These guys are guitar gods. If you could turn down the speakers a tiny bit it would be perfect.

  • Very Nice Venue!!!!!!

    by Jennah B on 8/21/23Rating: 5 out of 5

I had not been to the amphitheater since around 2017! I had always enjoyed going previously, but I haven’t had the time to go the past few years. The venue was absolutely beautiful. I was so happy to see all of the changes since I had been there last. I very much enjoyed the new look from what I had known it as. The restrooms were so clean and not to mention, if you go, VIP, it truly is VIP.

  • Solid Performance

    by Shawn M. on 8/21/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Jimmy Eat World hasn't lost a step. They played almost every song you would expect (minus Big Casino, my personal favorite) and a few unexpected songs like Hear You Me (which was an emotional challenge to hear live without any warning). Great energy and fantastic sound. Manchester Orchestra sounded very good as well. Overall, very happy with the event.

  • Great!

To be honest I went for Manchester but stayed for the whole thing and it was awesome. Jimmy eats world was really good to see live, and had such a great energy. The venue was also really nice and really clean. Highly recommend.

  • By far, best concert of the year…

by NattyRain on 8/21/23Rating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been to three music festivals and twenty-five additional concerts this year, Manchester Orchestra and Jimmy Eat World top my list of favorites. The pit upgrade was probably the clincher! Being in The Middle of the action made it so much better… Thanks for a great night!

  • AMAZING!

by Callicar on 8/12/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Love Jimmy Eat World! They never disappoint live! High energy. Oozing nostalgia. Got to take my 2 favorite teenagers to this show. I think they enjoyed watching me dance and sing all set.

  • Good show - went for ManO

by ShanD on 8/10/23Rating: 4 out of 5

I went for Manchester Orchestra. To be honest, I wish their set list was different as they have a lot of songs I love that I didn’t get to hear. However, they’re an amazing band so I had a great time regardless. Jimmy eat world was good too. I had seats and wish I was on the floor bc it was not very lively up there at all.

  • Nostalgia fest!

Great concert! First time watching Jimmy Eat World and Manchester Orchestra live. A really good time!

  • Great show….not great sound

by Tony on 7/26/23Rating: 4 out of 5

Vocals were drowned out center stage. In between the sound booth and the stage.

  • Sound was unlistenable

by Paul on 7/26/23Rating: 1 out of 5

As much as we love both these bands, and truly were ready to have a wonderful time, unfortunately our experience was ruined as the sound from the pit at the Greek was almost unlistenable. We were shocked, as our past experiences at this venue and seeing Manchester Orchestra have always been fantastic. Really disappointed unfortunately, especially because we paid so much for VIP tix.

  • Great show! The set was a little short!

Awesome venue, awesome show. No better place to see a concert.

  • Jimmy Eat World and Manchester Orchestra at Petco Park

    by Eric G on 7/24/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Great show. I’ve never been a huge Jimmy Eat World fan; I don’t dislike them, just never got into them in a big way beyond what I heard on the radio. I came to this show for Manchester Orchestra. It’s a co-headlining tour, which seems to be a “thing” this year. It means they have an opener, and then the headliners swap who goes on first and who ends the show from night to night. Friday at Petco, MO went on first and JEW closed it down. I still prefer MO, actually thought for a second about chasing them out Vegas the following day. MO performed songs mainly from A Black Mile and Million Masks, only one from the album that’s just dropped. MO is way heavier sounding live than on the radio; almost sounded like Mastedon on a few tracks. JEW came out totally fired up, did 16 songs, lots of their hits. It was a great show. I really liked the Park at the Park venue. It was my first time seeing a concert there. You can chill out on the grassy knoll and get a great view, or get really close to the stage; whatever floats your boat. And when the show is over, you’re right in the Gas Lamp. Perfect for a Friday night.

  • Awesome show
