About

Professor Richard Dawkins is a world-renowned truth-teller, evolutionary biologist, and best-selling author, celebrated globally for his honest critique of religion and tradition and his push for critical thinking. His books include "The Ancestor's Tale," "The Selfish Gene," "The Blind Watchmaker," "Climbing Mount Improbable," "Unweaving the Rainbow," "A Devil's Chaplain," "The God Delusion," "The Greatest Show on Earth," "The Magic of Reality," his two-part autobiography "An Appetite for Wonder" and "A Brief Candle in the Dark," and "Outgrowing God: A Beginner's Guide."

Richard Dawkins has gained notoriety for his unwavering commitment to science as an advocate for scientific literacy and rational thinking, particularly in the education of younger generations. His relentless pursuit of truth, and his recognition of the beauty in life on earth, has made him a revered source of wisdom and insight, in response to scientific and existential inquiries like 'What are we doing here?' and 'When did life begin?'

only complaint: never received the link to get the pic with Richard as promised with VIP pkge

  • Richard Rocks

by RogerOxon on 10/7/24The Masonic - San FranciscoRating: 4 out of 5

A great evening of discussion. He may be 83, but looks closer to 73. He was clearly knackered after the event, and had a cold, so hopefully got some well-deserved rest. It's amazing that he still is able to present his views so clearly and concisely, despite clearly not being 100% on this one evening. It was a privilege to see and meet the great man. I didn't engage him during the meet and great, as he was very tired. I would have liked to ask for his views on whether the Univeisity of Oxford should change its motto.

  • Great, but could be better

Parking is really bad unless you are really early. Not enough time for the meet and greet. I did not get to ask a question. Otherwise very nice.

  • Good night

The Chicago Theatre i absolutely beautiful and the staff was very knowledgeable about its history. I was in the Pit seating which was so close to the stage. The show was impromptu and "real". The VIP experience was worth it.

  • Incredible

by Robert Ruff on 9/26/24The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Wonderful talk, great insight and patience in the Q&A and Professor Dawkins was amazing with the in-person meet and greet event. He was patient, cordial and talkative. What an amazing person. Truly a role model for open discussion and civil discourse.

  • A great teacher

Richard Dawkins 10+ Cohost only a 4. Don’t even know his name. Lady working Mezzanine a 10+ by OPW doors a kind and helpful gem of a human being.

  • Mediocre moderator

by Summerjoy on 9/24/24The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

Dawkins is always interesting, but his "discussion"presentation format requires someone well read in evolutionary biology (and scientific cosmology) for audiences to really learn something new. Didn't happen in Chicago; in fact, the "discussion"covered old ground and was rather boring. The 100+ "VIP"ticket buyers were treated like cattle. On the other hand, all of this should've been expected, given that the "show"was produced by Live Nation.

  • Disappointing

by Rick on 9/24/24The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

The moderator was not up to the task of teasing out the enormous wealth of knowledge that professor Dawkins has; too self centered.

  • A bit boring- the host wasn’t helpful

by RG on 9/24/24The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 2 out of 5

The host didn’t ask Richard any intriguing or deep questions, leading to very superficial answers from Richard. It seemed the host mostly wanted to reference Richard’s own books to him. The crowd was not properly vetted during the Q and A session- people were warned not to make statements (only ask questions), yet some woman went on about her thoughts on transgender/ cis without being stopped, and the last guy brought up Ukraine. Why didn’t the host follow through on his promise to keep things on track? The photo I received from the VIP meet and greet was terrible- both of our faces are poorly lit and discolored. Richard is fun to listen to, but this night was a letdown.
