About

Taking Back Sunday is one of the most notable bands to emerge from emo’s third wave. The group, which formed in 1999 on Long Island, New York, has featured the lineup of vocalist Adam Lazzara, guitarist John Nolan, bassist Shaun Cooper and drummer Mark O'Connell for nearly two decades. TBS have released eight studio albums, including their 2002 platinum-certified debut Tell All Your Friends and four career Top 10 releases on the Billboard 200. After 2004’s “A Decade Under the Influence” became their first single to hit the Alternative Airplay chart, the quartet released their breakthrough 2006 effort Louder Now, led by the Hot 100-charting single “MakeDamnSure.” The band spent 2022 collaborating with the likes of Steve Aoki and The Maine before releasing their 2023 full-length, 152.

  • Hear me out first!! CAN be a good show

by Ajr on 8/30/24Rating: 3 out of 5

Adams vocals are no good..but there is a VAST difference btwn a seated show and general admission. You can dance around, mosh, find cooler ppl to be next to and keep busy while singing over very bad vocals at GA. But to be seated in 1 place, staring right at stage with no distraction, with very bad singing nobody can promise a good time unless you just enjoy the fact you are in the same building as TBS & got a buncha ppl around singing with you..the rest of the band sounds fine. I base this off the 2 most recent shows of theirs i attended, Sad Summer Fest 2023 & The Rooftop Pier 17, Aug 17th..we moshed that 1st day..2nd day looked dull.

  • great, but very rude security

Just review proper customer interaction tone of voice. Don't treat guests like inmates, especially when I'm a 13 year patron of your establishment. Bands were all terrific, and all the concessions attendants were on point. Sound was terrific, and everything was clean :)

  • Horrible

by JM on 8/27/24Rating: 1 out of 5

Have been a fan for years and finally saw them at the Tampa show and it had to be the worst concert I’ve ever been to. I had second hand embarrassment.

  • Great

by Girl on 8/23/24The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Loved to see the elder millennials here singing along. I thought it would be less spacious because it was sold out but I had plenty of room to move around.

  • Shocked at this performance

by RH on 8/23/24The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New YorkRating: 1 out of 5

I was so excited to see Taking Back Sunday again after so many years. The venue and time spent with friends was great. It was a beautiful evening, and I was thankfully able to make it, despite being the show being postponed from a night with storms. Unfortunately, their performance was likely the worst I’ve ever seen (small legion hall shows included.) The singer seems to be in rough shape and it was a bit hard to watch. I am frustrated that I paid so much to see this performance. I wouldn’t recommend anyone bothering in future.

  • Not their best but still great

by Katie on 8/23/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

I’ve seen TBS over 20 times in my life. They’re my favorite band. I know bands sometimes have off nights and that’s okay. Both bands that night, citizen and TBS, were off though. At first I just thought it was citizen because I’ve never seen them before but then when TBS was off it was clear it was an issue. It seemed to be a sound issue with the left side of the stage that John was standing on (left side if you’re facing the stage). We were on the floor and right in front and both band members from both bands were singing off they were either too ahead in the song or behind.

  • Great show

by Tommy B on 8/20/24The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

They played everything I'd hoped they would, and mixed in some new stuff. Was super happy, great time!

  • Not enough old songs

by Pootie on 8/20/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

I've been an OG fan and am not totally into their new album. They didn't play some big name songs like "Number 5 with a Bullet"or "Timberwolves at New Jersey."That being said, I loved their energy and they sounded amazing! Overall, fun concert!

  • Yep….it was great!

by Layna on 8/19/24The Fillmore Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Overall great experience! Super fun time with my 2 daughters. 10/10 would highly recommend 🤘🏽

  • Waited so long for this!

by Junior on 8/18/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Show was everything and more! Waited more than ten years to see them and I was so happy that I finally got to. Venue was great as well.

  • Tbs always gives the best live show

by Tormentor on 8/18/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Have attended at least a dozen shows over the years and they never fail to give an awesome show!

  • Still puts on a great show!

by Rhaskell88 on 8/18/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

I saw TBS live at least 18 years ago and they still put on a great show!

  • Amazin

by Codi on 8/17/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

This band puts on a great show! So nostalgic! Really involve the crowd in the music and the venue was amazing. 10/10

  • Lead singer stunk

by TBSfan on 8/17/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 2 out of 5

First time at the venue - cool spot. Unfortunately, the lead singer was really not that good. It’s too bad because I am a big fan of their music, but he was either not singing or, when he was singing, he sounded terrible.

  • Not good

by Lemz on 8/17/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

Not good. They peaked 12 years ago, the lead vocalist appeared under the influence somehow & everyone who went just wanted them to play their hits but he kept singing his new album no one listened too. do his bandmates tell him he sounds good during sound check?

  • Always a great time

by TheTiffn8r on 8/17/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

TBS is my fave band. So I always have a good time. This setlist was perfection. The band was super nice at the meet and greet. Just all around good dudes.

  • Love TBS

by Bassplayer13 on 8/17/24MGM Music Hall at Fenway - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Taking Back Sunday was awesome. Great song selection from all of thier popular songs as well as a good mix of the new stuff. Venue is awesome. Citizen was excellent too!

  • A surprisingly fun night

by Rara on 8/16/24Dome at Toyota Oakdale Theatre - WallingfordRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great venue for this concert. It was small and intimate. We met some amazing people in the crowd. Also some not amazing people. And some people definitely didn't listen to the hygiene rule. However, overall we had a blast! The bartenders were great and the event was perfect.

  • Phenomenal

by Marie on 8/12/24The Ritz - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best shows I've ever seen... amazing live, great crowd interaction and awesome energy. Will definitely see them again and again.
