Al Stewart on Tour
There is something special about an artist who can tell a captivating story through their music. Scottish singer/songwriter Al Stewart is one of them. Drawing crowds on tour since the 1960s, when his debut album, Year of the Cat hit the radio, Stewart takes his audience on a journey with him that they will never forget. Attending a show is a memorable experience, and can be somewhat of a history lesson. The folk singer started his career writing love songs, but after a run of bad luck in that department, Stewart, an avid history buff, decided to give his storytelling skills a whirl. Stewart's concerts are a glimpse into the past, telling his favorite tales from his years of scouring history books. His 1974 album, Past, Present and Future, outsold all of his previous albums combined. Stewart has maintained one of the most devoted and long-lasting audiences of the folk/rock genre. His 2022 tour with his band, The Empty Pockets, is set to span three countries, including the United States, UK and Israel. The 2022 tour will feature songs from all of Stewart's albums, including Year of the Cat, Time Passages, On the Border, Nostradamus, and Roads To Moscow. Catch Al Stewart and his band, The Empty Pockets on tour in 2022.
Al Stewart Live in Concert
Al Stewart is a Scottish singer/songwriter who rose to stardom in the late 1960s as part of the British Folk Revival. When Stewart was a child, his mother moved him to an English town named Wimborne Minster, following the death of his father. His father, who served in the Royal Airforce, died in a plane crash during a training exercise before Stewart was born. He began his career by singing in local coffee shops around London. As his music career took off, Stewart released two back-to-back platinum-selling albums,The Year of the Cat and Time Passages. Stewart moved to the United States to reside in the Los Angeles area following the release of his album Year of the Cat in October 1976. Stewart prides himself on writing music that is a bit eccentric. His concerts draw fans who have been loyal to Stewart for decades. His 2022 tour follows several cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and is long awaited and anticipated by fans.
Absolutely loved it! Al Stewart and his band The Empty Pockets were fantastic! Highly recommended
A very good concert. Despite the passage of time, Al Stewart and his band of great musicians, the Empty Pockets , captured the great sounds from the era of The Year of the Cat!
Traveled to see Al and Empty Pockets last fall - we immediately decided we had to see them again so traveled a second time. Several of the songs are Peak Experiences - just way over the top - surpassing the recorded versions. Al's personality and storytelling is a huge reason we love his show - and the member of the Empty Pockets are incredibly talented as well as fun! We are already planning our next Al Stewart Road trip!
Al is great. Plays what you want to hear, tells some stories. His backing bank, Empty Pockets, is really good. I'll go see him every year.
Al is great. He plays what you came for with a great band (Empty Pockets). I'll go see him every year.
Al Stewart is one of the few performers who I would see again and again. His lyrics are timeless, no less relevant today than when he wrote them. He is such an engaging storyteller and stage presence. If you've never seen him live before, I urge you to do so at your next opportunity. And if you've seen him before, you know just what a great show he delivers.
My wife and I always loved Year of the Cat and Time Passages, and Al Stewart and his amazing backing band, The Empty Pockets , did a great job with those two songs. It turns out that Al is very funny and engaging. Seeing them at the Birchmere was great fun!
Seeing Al Stewart for the first time I found him and his show to be very entertaining. He told some really funny stories and his songs did not disappoint. The opening act The Empty Pockets were very good as well. The Birchmere is the perfect venue!
Al Stewart and his backup band, Empty Pockets, gave us a tremendous night of of pure musical vibes, from rock to folk to pop. It was a real pleasure to be in attendance. Al gave it his all and it was fantastic.
Al and his band, The Empty Pockets, were excellent. The Empty Pockets played some of their original work, very well executed and enjoyable. Al Stewart still sounds great, I loved hearing some of his familiar songs along with some that I had not heard. I really enjoyed his stories from a long and influential career. Highly recommended!
