About

As a Swedish death metal band that mainly pens and performs songs about Viking history and lore, it makes absolute sense that their name is in the fictional language of Sindarin (created by J. R. R. Tolkien) and translates into “Mount Doom”—the volcano in Tolkien’s fantasy world of Middle Earth. It’s also fitting that Johan Hegg (vocals), Olavi Mikkonen (guitar), Johan Söderberg (guitar), Ted Lundström (bass) and Fredrik Andersson play über-loud hit songs like “Death In Fire,” “Thousand Years of Oppression,” “Without Fear,” “A Fury Divine” and “Risen From the Sea” with as much speed and vigor as wielded by the almighty hammer of Thor. Legions of death metal fans have been grabbing concert tickets since the early ‘90s to witness the fire and fury of Amon Amarth LIVE on stage, performing music that the band’s website describes as “a compelling fusion of buzzsaw riff work, melodic harmonies and soul-crushing rhythms.” Amon Amarth frequently play at metal festivals around the globe and tour with other top-notch death metal acts like Goatwhore, Enslaved and Skeletonwitch.

Over the course of their career, Amon Amarth have played at venues like Arizona Federal Theatre, and have brought The Fillmore (Philadelphia), The Fillmore (Detroit), The Fillmore (Minneapolis) to capacity.

  • Experienced a new band.

by Benji on 6/25/24The Fillmore Philadelphia - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

Bought tickets last minute and only got to see Cannibal Corpse (I imagined I'd maybe be able to finally see Amon Amarth after maybe a decade of being a fan...) but the venue is inviting (having previously been there for Thrice..) and was somewhat surprised that Cannibal Corpse wasnt as offensive as id conceptualized them in the past.

I had a really good time and it was definitely nice to see one of my favorite bands. It will definitely be fun to see them again.

  • Absolutely awesome metal experience

In order: Frozen Soul was quite entertaining. I know they are new-ish to the scene, and I've only listened to them a total of two or three hours in my life, but I was impressed with the show they put on. Obituary blew me away. While listening to their recorded stuff is *ok* to me, I found their live performance to be fantastic. Great energy, great sound, UNDERSTANDABLE LYRICS. The drummer positively killed it. Cannibal Corpse was a bit of a disappointment. I actually like their albums more than either Frozen Soul or Obituary, but their show live was a letdown. The mix wasn't great. Very muddy sounding. While the musicians definitely put a lot of energy forth, the poor sound quality and choice of tracks was a real bummer. And finally..... Amon Amarth. 100% amazing. Sound, theatrics, setlist, and energy were top notch. Of all four of the bands that night, Amon Amarth is the only one I would definitely see again.

  • ROCKING OUT WITH OUR SOCKS OUT!!!!

by Shadowfax on 5/30/24Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Amon Amarth has gotta be one of the best performers out there! Frozen Soul is awesome, Obituary is freaking sick, and Cannibal Corpse is very special to me and I had been a huge fan of them ever since. The lineup is freaking awesome and rate it 100/10!!!!! 🔥🤘🤘🤘

  • Amon Amarth

by Ragnar on 5/29/24Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Best Concert Ever! Amon Amarth was perfect in every way, their music, stage show, and showmanship were unequally. I don't think the supporting acts were the best choice for this show. They were just okay.

  • What a great show

by retrofred on 5/29/24Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

This was the second time seeing them live and wasn't disappointed. This a Chrismas/Birthday gift for my daughter, and it was such a great show. All four bands were awesome. Looking forward to the next time.

  • Awesome show but with a couple of issues

by Chris on 5/29/24Honda Center - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

You can never go wrong seeing Obituary, Cannibal Corpse, and Amon Amarth at the same show. It was outstanding!! The two issues that I can point out are mainly about the seating. Row A was set very low making it difficult to have a good view of the stage behind the GA section. The section issue which is a usual one related to how the seats are tight and you can't really move without coming in contact with the people next to you and apologizing all night long.

First time taking the family to an all metal concert and the lineup did not disappoint. We went to see Amon Amarth specifically and they put on an amazing show with background changes and pyrotechnics. We would go and see them again.
