Great performance and story. We thoroughly enjoyed this. We are big Phantom of the Opera followers, have seen it multiple times in Chicago, along with NY and London, and Love Never Dies did not disappoint us at all. Music was fantastic. Great job Andrew Lloyd Weber.

A show for a perfect date.

by Meowitall on 3/4/18Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Phantom of the Opera has always been the go to musical that my boyfriend and I love to jam out to. So when I found out that the sequel was playing in Chicago I had to surprise him with tickets. We planned a whole day out together in the city, and ended it with getting to sit down and watch the show. With just the first song, I was moved to tears with the intense and beautiful voice of the male lead playing the Phantom. The quality and work that these actors, musicians, and tech crew put into the production of this show was evident with how amazing it all came together. I hope to in the future come to this theater to watch more shows.

    Met (very low) expectations

by ekraepelin on 3/3/18Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Sir ALW milking the success of the original. If you love ALW, then you'll probably more than tolerate this production. All others, beware. The top-shelf cast/voices and elaborate staging attempt to compensate for the overwrought tedium of the score and vapid lyrics. Despite the attempt at melodrama and spectacle, it's a real yawner. No surprise that this show has yet to make it to Broadway.

The show started out slow. But it built up to a fantastic show. The music was great. The lady that played Christine was awesome.

    A good sequal

    by Retired07 on 3/3/18Cadillac Palace - Chicago

We thought this show was a good blend with Phantom of the Opera. We originally saw it in London when it was first being developed. What an improvement. We liked the beginning better and the blend of the music. It flowed much better. The audience was captivated by the plot and music. I think of only one thing that needs to be different. At the very end when Christine dies and the boy and father walk off the bridge, I think something is missing. It is a lot better than it was in London, but something is missing. We still loved it and would go to see it again. It was a great performance.

    Sensational

    by DougR121 on 3/3/18Cadillac Palace - Chicago

A moving production performed by a highly talented group of performers. None of the performers stood out as the best because they were ALL so extraordinary. Too bad it is only in Chicago for a relatively short run because I would go see it again.

1st act a little slow, but the 2nd made up for it. Of course, Phantom was amazing, but this was a very good sequel.

Very good story line..lots of surprises along the way. Don’t expect the music to be as beautiful as Phantom although it is good especially the last song. The little boy, Gustav, was exceptional! If you loved Phantom you will love this show!

Chilling ending and inappropriate for kids

by LunaSky on 3/1/18Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I am a fan of the phantom but not of this production which is like a beautifully decorated cupcake that looses all the charm once you take a bite. The only exciting part of the show, for me, are the costumes and scene production, all beautiful! However, I can do away with the cheesy soap opera where a woman can't decide who she truly loves. The pathetic Raul and weaker Phantom take the charm away. Also, the music is nothing memorable. Worst of all, I hated the end because I had my 10 yo daughter and niece with me. I didn't expect to see one of the female characters pulling out a gun and pointing it at her own head, attempting suicide, all ending with a lost bullet killing Christine, while being held by her 3 men (Raul, Phantom and Gustav). That's it, sad and sour end... Not something I wanted to pay for to watch, especially as we go through the worst gun control terror our society is facing. Do not bring kids or people trying to get away from stress and distracted from our latest news. Kill that ending please!

    Not even close

    by skulldagger57 on 3/1/18Cadillac Palace - Chicago

All the hype, all the anticipation and the Andrew Lloyd Webber name couldn't lift this show above mediocre. The acting was good, the boy playing Gustave had an excellent voice, but no one had "really good music" with which to work. When we walked out of The Phantom, we were humming and commenting on the strong music and lyrics, and how the score was "haunting". We felt that even the title song, Love Never Dies, lacked drive and emotion. Truly failed to live up to the standards of an ALW musical.

    LOVE NEVER DIES

by Anonymous on 2/28/18Cadillac Palace - Chicago

WE LOVED THE PLAY..ALTHOUGH IT TOOK PLACE IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION AND HAD A BUNCH OF STRANGE CHARACTERS THAN THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA IT WAS STILL VERY GOOD...MUSIC..SETS..COSTUMES. ALL GOOD..AND WE COULD UNDERSTAND THE WORDS WHEN THEY WERE SINGING...AND WE ALWAYS ENJOY GOING TO THE CADILLAC PALACE

ALW's music did not meet the level of the Phantom

by dumbnicknames on 2/28/18Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Set was great. Story was strange as a sequal. Good voices but the music was just average. I would see Phamtom again rather than see this show.

    Love Never Dies

    by maxine1789 on 2/28/18Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I took my 18 year old grand daughter to see Phantom and she loved it. We now went to see Love Never Dies. We were both disappointed with the songs in the musical. They were not nearly as dramatic as in the Phantom. Also the theme was set around a circus. I never would think opera would have anything to do with a circus. The ending was not only a disappointment but also a shock. It was an alright musical but doesn't come close to the Phantom of the Opera. I think it could have been better.
