  • Chocolate Drops at Cain Park

by Cheekso on 6/17/14Cain Park - Cleveland HeightsRating: 5 out of 5

What a beautiful night in a lovely setting. The Carolina Chocolate Drops played varied styles of music American with song background. The music had blends of bluegrass, Celtic, and even jazz (the bass player could "mix it up"). We were visiting from Charlotte, NC, and appreciated the Cleveland crowd. They responded to the crowds request of "Cornbread and butter beans"!!!

  • First time seeing CCD

    by DarkandStormy1 on 6/15/14Cain Park - Cleveland HeightsRating: 4 out of 5

I've heard this group on Pandora and seeing them live did not disappoint. Excellent musicians and the lead singer had a tremendous voice. If you are a fan of "old timey" style string music this is a group to see. They concentrate on Carolina musical styles but also do some bluegrass and jazz as well. Use of older forgotten types of instruments adds to the uniqueness of their performance. In addition they had a couple dancers accompanying them on a few numbers. Again, following that "old timey" motif, displayed expertise in clogging, jigs and reels. This was a great addition to the music and mixed things up nicely.

  • Gifted, talented, great

If you have the opportunity to see them just do it. Thank me later. Take a kid or two. Take your sweetie. Take your granny. These guys are not only great you might learn something along the way as they explore roots and culture and musicianship.
