Chicago Bears History

As one of the founding franchises of the National Football League, the Chicago Bears were established in 1920 as the Decatur Staleys by legendary player, coach and owner George S. Halas. The team moved to Chicago in 1921 and has gone on to win nine championships, including Super Bowl XX in 1986.

The Bears have 37 players in the Hall of Fame, the most of any NFL team. In the community, the Bears strive to be leaders throughout Chicago and its suburbs by supporting initiatives focused on social justice, youth football, health and fitness, volunteerism and civic involvement, and education. Bears players participate in community outreach events throughout the season. Bears Care, the team's charitable arm, has issued grants totaling over $29.1 million to over 200 qualifying agencies.

  • Awesome seats!

    by suse7336 on 8/24/09Soldier Field - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Our first time there! Right dead center in the End Zone! We loved it! We had a visitor from England and wanted to show them how our American Football is played, just a little different from their Football....they enjoyed it, but they have Beckham.... But now, when they go back to England and watch sports on the telly, they will know to look for results about our Bears! Go Bears!

  • Long lines for food....Eat before the game

by Chattybox on 8/24/09Soldier Field - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

The game and stadium are awesome!!! I biggest problem at this stadium is they separation of food stands. example You can get fries at one stand then you stand in another line for Nacho then another line for grilled food then another line for drinks then yet another line for pizza and wait yet one more for a turkey leg!! I spent a quarter of a game just waiting in lines. Then to top it off they ran out of hotdogs, did I memntion another line? The food system there is terrible... My suggestions is eat first!!! or not at all. We came to watch the game not the food servers. Go Bears!!!

  • First time at Soldier Field

by JefferyScot on 8/23/09Soldier Field - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

What a great night! The stadium is beautiful and the seats were the best I've every had. They read "obstructed view," and the few rows above certainly are, but row 10 isn't really obstructed. My whole party was impressed with everything about this event. This could be a 5-star event if the parking/traffic was reasonable.

  • preseason relief

    by daedulus847 on 8/23/09Soldier Field - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I was a little worried for the bears after their first preseason game. Now I can't wait for the regular season. The first string offense and defense looked sharp against a high quality team. Go bears

  • #6 is the man

by klepaus on 8/23/09Soldier Field - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

awsome game finally we have some offense nd defense wasnt so bad either

  • Jay All Day In The Midway

    by Akuma2000 on 8/23/09Soldier Field - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The game was very exciting with 4th phase crowd in full effect, it's awesome to see how Jay Cutler brings our offense to a whole new level of play that opposing defenses won't be able to tame and will have defensive coordinators scratching thier heads in confusion. The defense has their "growl" back with the pass rush, opposing qb's will be shaking in their boots when they face up this year and best beleive the Bears will win the nfc north. .

  • Great game

by ajstriet on 8/23/09Soldier Field - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Soldier field is a great NFL stadium. The atmosphere was extremely energetic, and there isn't a bad seat in the building. To any NFL fan I would recommend seeing a Bears game.
