About

Cyndi Lauper is a pop singer and activist from Queens, New York. Upon the release of her 1983 debut album, She’s So Unusual, Lauper became a pop sensation, thanks to the success of Top 5 singles including “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” “Time After Time,” “She Bop” and “All Through the Night.” Lauper also won Best New Artist at the 1985 Grammys. Her second and third albums, True Colors (1986) and A Night to Remember (1989), added more hit singles like “True Colors” and “I Drove All Night” to her oeuvre and by the end the decade, Lauper had become synonymous with the ’80s new wave movement and synthpop sound. In addition to her twelve solo albums, Lauper also wrote the music and lyrics for the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Kinky Boots, for which she became the first solo woman to ever win the Tony for Best Original Score. In the fall of 2024, the singer embarked on her Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour in conjunction with her documentary film LET THE CANARY SING.

  • Cyndi rocks!

This was the first time we were ever at the Target Center. Fantastic place for a concert! Great seating! Great sound! Very helpful and friendly staff! Only negative....We got turned around and had a hard time finding the skywalk to our hotel. More sinage would have been helpful!

What a great show! Such as shame this was a farewell tour concert. This concert definitely made you want to see Cyndi Lauper again! Amazing renditions of She Bop, Time After Time, and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, to name a few. I loved the stories she told about the songs, and you could understand every word! She still has a great voice and lots of energy in her performance. The costume changes were fun and although the stage was simple, it was very effective and beautiful! Thank you Cyndi for all the wonderful memories! You're fantastic & I hope to see you again in your new chapter!

  • More than I expected

by RebeccaB on 12/11/24United Center - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Sure this was a show about her greatest hits… But it was so much more!... We got to hear a good portion about her life before her fame and songs she created in her youth. We left feeling like we knew her better. And, the technical elements were AMAZING!

  • Big disappointment

Cindy Lauper wasn't engaging the audience. Very slow pace and energy!! I left before the end of the "concert"

When the Cyndi Lauper concert came to my attention, it hit me that this was my chance to share the experience with my daughter and granddaughter. We’re spread apart in miles and generations but to come to together for this event was memorable for sure! We laughed, we cried, we bought matching t shirts …these Girls Just Wanna thank Cyndi for the great time!

  • 1983 All Over Again!!

I had never seen Cyndi Lauper live before and thought her Farewell Tour was a must see event. She did not disappoint! The stage set up was exquisite and the band consisted of 4 females and 1 male. Cyndi had an array of costume and wig changes and she sang all her hits along with other good songs. The lighting and props were colorful and fit well with her style. She has a great sense of humor ( I have never laughed so much at a concert) and she told a few stories pertaining to her career and life experiences. Her voice was spot on and you would never guess she is 71 years old. She did her classic signature moves and was obviously really enjoying herself along with the entire band who you could tell is a close knit group. It was a really good show and I am so glad I went. True to her character of supporting young artists and especially other females she brought out her female opening singer to do her last song "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"!! A perfect song to end an amazing show.

I saw Cyndi Lauper at the Hard Rock in AC and Wow! What a show! She put a great performance. She’s still got it. Voice is great and she dances around the stage likes she’s still young.
