  • Performance of a Lifetime

by GAPeachSouthernBelle on 5/6/12Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

This is probably Disney's most popular story. I've always heard great reviews about the play and considering my love of the performing arts I wanted to see the play. Never would I have guess this would happen in Orlando. Although I wanted to share this experience with someone I ended up going alone. However the entire show I never felt alone. This is the most talented cast I've ever seen and this includes television and movies. The extras had to be extraordinary to get their parts. From the voice clarity and South African tones to the animal like movements it was unbelievable. I wondered how there were going to pull off all of the animals and special effects in a play, I think they have out done themselves. This is a show for all ages and I would go see it agian. I even purchased the CD with the Bonus behind the scences DVD.

by BuffBill53 on 5/5/12Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

From the opening chant to the final curtain, the entire show was awesome. Everyone in the audience from the youngest to the oldest were entertained thoroughly. I don't believe anyone wanted the show to end.

  • Simply incredible, Lion King Rules

by Bernpafer on 5/5/12Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New OrleansRating: 5 out of 5

I've looked forward to seeing this show since all the buzz from its premiere on Broadway. My wife and I treated our 10 and 7 year old daughters to see The Lion King when it travelled to the New Orleans Mahalia Jackson Theatre in April. From the opening procession to meet young Simba to the closing where the actors greeted the audience, it was a feast for the eyes and ears. Rafiki and Zazu provided great comic relief, while Timon and Pumba were their usual hilarious selves. The leads were well portrayed with great energy. And the music was tremendous. The cast even threw a couple of local references to personalize the show for New Orleans. It seemed the cast was genuinely happy to perform in NOLA; in return the audience was even more enthusiastic about seeing a quality Broadway performance without having to travel all the way up to New York.

  • Lion King Rocks!

Loved the show, overall sound and performance was amazing, would def see again! As for seating i could see everything without being too close; you need to sit a little farther back for this show to see all the action going on with the props & animals!

  • Lion King

by Silmaril on 5/5/12Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

I thought this show was really really good. My only comment would be that it felt at times that the singers had the energy but the musicians did not. Don't know how to explain it other than I felt like the musicians got bored throughout the performance. Rafiki was awesome!!! Outstanding voice! Also, it sucks the Bob Carr is the only place for this stuff in Orlando. Feels like a High School auditorium.

  • Still has the energy

by DisneyLionKingFan on 5/4/12Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Broadway's touring version of Disney's The Lion King still has all the energy and spark we remember from its first year in New York. The actors, musicians, and technical staff show us a professional show need not get tired even if has run for 15 years. The opening draws you in. You re-live the storyline. You might even cry when we lose Mufasa. Zazu brings tons of life. Grown-up Nala commands respect. The music is awesome, especially the opening of Act 2. The costumes are still unique and effective. The set is great for a traveling production.

  • Blown away!!!

by Spydoc on 5/4/12Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

I was hoping for a good performance of Disney's Lion King at the Bob Carr Center for the Performing Arts and I was definitely not disappointed! The costumes were phenomenal, the music was exquisitely performed and melded seamlessly with the performers. The conductor was spot-on with all of her entrances, matching all of the movement on stage. Many of the rhythms were difficult yet done without flaw. Speaking of the performers, they are all top notch artists in their own right and any one of them could perform solo! There was not a dropped note, phrase, word or even a tear out of place. The show absolutely Rocks and I highly recommend seeing this performance, which is definitely great for all ages! For the seats, they were comfortable, good view of the stage overall and nice for music. Stereo effect was hindered a bit, but overall, very nice positions. These seats are close enough to the stage that you can hear everything (mostly due to microphones too) and see well across the stage, with stage left being only slightly hidden.

  • Smash Hit!

by Col60 on 5/4/12Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

I did not see The Lion King in Vegas so I could see it in Orlando. The show is awesome. The music, set design, costumes, actors and actresses were awesome. This has to be one of the best Disney production numbers I have seen.
