Excellent show.
by Down at the Aztec on 4/4/25Aztec Theatre - San AntonioRating: 4 out of 5I’ve been a Pantera fan since they were still playing clubs, and fell in love with Down from the first note on NOLA. I’d somehow never been to a Down concert, and with them coming to San Antonio, I was going to go even if I had to walk to get there. I’ve been here for 12 years, but this was my first concert at the Aztec. Say what you want about SATX, but we have some very nice mid-size venues, and the Aztec is no exception. A smaller theater meant that the show was closer and more intimate. Down was a blast, and it looks like a group of guys who genuinely get along and want to make great music. I only regret taking as long to see them as I did, but they were energetic and fun. The playlist was either all the first two albums or at least 90% from them - which I had no problem with, but at the same time would have liked to have heard “Witchtripper” or “On March the Saints.” The setlist was hard and well-selected though, so this isn’t much of a complaint - just an observation. The only detractor of the night was the merch table, where it really looked like they had one person selling, while the line was crazy long. I wanted a shirt, but not enough to miss the show standing in line. Don’t know if someone didn’t show up or what, but this was kind of a mess.
