Houston Astros History

The Houston Astros joined Major League Baseball in 1962. The team originally competed in the West and Central divisions of the National League before moving to the American League West in 2013. Across leagues, the Astros have claimed 14 division titles and five pennants, including back-to-back AL Pennants in 2021 and 2022. The Astros have advanced to the World Series five times, appearing first in 2005 and winning in 2017 and 2022.  

The Astros roster has included a dozen Hall of Fame inductees, two league MVPs in Jeff Bagwell and Jose Altuve, and Cy Young winners Mike Scott, Roger Clemens, Dallas Keuchel and Justin Verlander, the latter of whom has won twice as an Astro in 2019 and 2022.

Houston Astros at Daikin Park (formerly Minute Maid Park)

Daikin Park, formerly known as Minute Maid Park, opened in 2000 as the home of the Houston Astros. The park replaced the locally cherished Astrodome, which had hosted the team since 1965. The MLB All-Star Game was held at Daikin Park in 2004. Daikin Park hosted its first World Series matchup in 2005, then held three games apiece at the World Series in 2017 and 2021. The 41,168-seat stadium features a retractable roof.
