Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards Tickets

Great show again this year. What talented young people we have in Iowa. Would like to see someone start a website where we could see what high school/college shows are performing where and when so I could go take in some of my favorite shows, help fill up their auditorium and make money for the drama department. I would have loved to see most of these shows in their entirety. Felt like I was at a Broadway Show at the showcaase. I'll be back again next year.

What an amazing showcase of the young people of our state! The talent and professionalism was outstanding. Nice to see recognition of the fine arts in Iowa.

It was a great night seeing all of the different musicals that had been put on by Iowa high school talented actors and supporting staff. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and will be back next year. Too bad there isn't a site where you can go to to see a listing of all of the upcoming plays and musicials being presetned so you could attend any shows you'd like to see during the school year.. That would sell more tickets for the high school shows and bring a larger audience to attend the shows they want to see.

The Iowa High School Musical Theatre performance and awards Monday June 1st was a unified and complete celebration of this exciting, cheesy, visceral, emotional, and contagious art form called the American musical. Prior to Monday evening, these 400+ high school artists experienced a weekend of growth, awareness, inspiration, friendships, and approval. This became that "next level" which many of these young performers needed in order to see their potential in the bigger world awaiting them. The local Des Moines Performing Arts staff and their professional coaches brought in for this event were remarkable, and conducted this logistical-heavy program with professionalism and humanity through out the entire process--from the adjudication of each high school musical to the awards presentations nine months later.

The IHSMTA 2015 performances were fantastic this year. I thought the show went a bit long and perhaps there could be less talking between the acts to shorten the show. We do not really need to hear from all of the presenters. Additionally, and this will be controversial, there are so many great non-white performers, why aren't more of them honored? Why are all of the triple thread nominees white? The Roosevelt Hairspray performance stood out because half of the cast was wonderful performers of color. Many of those performers were at least as good as some of the people in the triple threat; I'd like to see some of them nominated for New York.

This is the future of musical theater in Iowa...and it is grand! Congratulations to the 452 students who performed Monday evening and the many more students, faculty, parents and fans who support their work. The passion, energy and excitement was everywhere and you could feel it. Don't miss out next year - it is one of the finest nights at the Civic Center and every fan of musicals should be there, cheering them on! Unforgettable!!! Congratulations also to the Civic Center for sponsoring this magnificent event!!

A friend and I attended both last year's and this year's performance. It is an awesome show. Great kids. We like to try to pick the winning guy and girl at the end. We have done really well doing that. If you like musicals, this is a great show to attend. With the radius from Des Moines being widened, it will be even more awesome next year.

I would go to this again even if I didn't have a child who was getting an award! So professionally put together! Highly talented high school student performances!

So glad we went to the high school musical theater awards showcase. We had a wonderful time seeing highlights from a number of school musicals. The talent is amazing. You would think, with 350 kids, you would hear a few clunkers but everyone was outstanding. The show seemed a little long towards the end and from the sound of it - it can only get longer adding more schools next year. We were totally confused by the triple threat award. We thought two people won and then they really awarded it to two others. Overall we had a great time and are looking forward to going again next year!
