About
James Austin Johnson has been a featured player on Saturday Night Live since 2021. The comedian, actor and writer is known for his impersonations of President Biden and President Trump. Entertainment Weekly noted that Johnson is “one of the most exciting new (SNL) cast members in years, a cross between Dana Carvey and Darrell Hammond,” while Vanity Fair called Johnson the “best Trump impersonator of all.” The SNL standout has appeared in several TV and film productions, including the Coen brothers' Hail, Caesar! (2016) and the AMC hit series Better Call Saul. Johnson parlayed his popularity on SNL into his multi-city comedy tour, The Age of JAJ, where he performs in packed venues nationwide.

Caught dinner in North Beach then attended the Friday show at 9:15 front row (past our bedtime, lol). I love SNL and think the sketches are always hilarious, topical and creative so I knew the standup here wouldn't disappoint. The comedy was relatable, appropriately raunchy and of course - the impressions. JAJ was kind enough to snap a pic outside as well - even thought I felt so geeky asking for it! Love that they take time away to travel and come out to see the fans! Enjoyed some silly audience participation, too. :)

This show was exactly what I needed. Both of them were hilarious. Thanks Southern Cafe, for bringing this fun night of entertainment to Charlottesville.
First time at Zanies at Nashville
by Michael on 8/3/23Rating: 4 out of 5First! Sat right up front by the stage. James did well. He seemed very confident as a performer. Lots of energy. Everybody was waiting for him to do trump. He did Biden and trump and the crowd loved it. He definitely seems to have the poise to do well on SNL. And he’s shown that. Worth seeing live!
