Sound too low
by MichCat on 7/22/23Rating: 4 out of 5It was super fun. I think the volume could've been turned up a little bit.

Jimmy Eat World in Concert
Jimmy Eat World started in 1993 as a punk trio formed by childhood friends Jim Adkins and Zach Lind. After years of hard work in the studio and on the road, the band settled on a poppier sound, hitting the spotlight in 2001 with breakthrough album Bleed American. The album included several successful singles including "The Middle," which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became an MTV staple. After extensive touring in support of the album, the band returned to the studio for 2004's Futures, which peaked at No. 6 and earned the band another No. 1 single with "Pain." Chase This Light in 2007 and Invented in 2010 would achieve similar success, cementing the band's role as one of the most successful indie acts in the business.
In 2013, Jimmy Eat World celebrated 20 years of independently released records with Damage, their critically-acclaimed eighth studio album. At their live concerts, the band delivers a blast of non-stop energy and enthusiasm, delighting ticket buyers with heavy guitar riffs, boisterously precise drum solos, and three-part vocal harmonies anchored by the familiar croon of frontman Jim Adkins. 2013's Damage saw the band transition from teen-angst rock towards a more sophisticated sound, with lyrical content taking on a markedly more mature tone on singles like the album's title track and "I Will Steal You Back."
Jimmy Eat World on Tour
Jimmy Eat World announced their Criminal Energy Tour in 2020. The 20-date summer run starts in Atlanta, GA on August 6, 2020 and culminates in a hometown gig in Phoenix, AZ, Labor Day Weekend, on September 5, 2020. New Jersey-based The Front Bottoms join the tour as direct support with Turnover and Joyce Manor splitting the duties of opening the festivities on select dates. Jimmy Eat World continues the 2020 roadshow in support of their "bold, brave and ultimately defiant" (NME) 10th studio album, Surviving. With 10 records to pull from, the sets will prove to satisfy all fans new and old. Over the course of their career, Jimmy Eat World have sold venues such as Saint Andrews Hall (Detroit) to capacity, as well as 713 Music Hall (Houston), and The Masonic (San Francisco).

It was super fun. I think the volume could've been turned up a little bit.
The venue is spacious and for an unbearably hot day in Seattle, it was nice a cool inside. Drinks and food pries are obnoxious, but as to be expected. The sound quality was AWFUL. We could not hear the guitar, vocals went from way too loud to not loud enough. I expected more from a major venue.
My family of four loved every minute. We walked in when the doors opened, got our merch and sat in comfortable seats before the show started. Throughout the concert we went back and forth from the floor to the seats. The music rocked from all 3 bands. We'd do it again in a heartbeat!
The show was amazing. The band was on fire and the set list was so good. I kept missing the few times my hometown band was coming up to my new home in Seattle so I was glad to find I was finally going to see them. I hope this means I will be seeing them more. The show was just exactly what I needed and my first time in a GA situation. Just EPIC.
Jimmy was just not good. Dead crowd, zero hype and then the most mid performance. Thank god Manchester closed the night, I would have been devastated to have Jimmy’s set be the ringing in my ears for the rest of the night.
Middle Kids, Jimmy Eat World, and Manchester Orchestra all put on great shows. But the sound quality was not great for any act. If I hadn’t brought earbuds to cut off harsh frequencies, my ears may have been ringing into the next day. I’m a metalhead, so I like my music loud. But I’m also an amateur producer, and I make sure to cut out grating frequencies if I can. To be fair, it seems like it would be difficult to get a great sound in a room that has concrete floors and metal ceilings, but it seems to me that a couple tweaks could have made the mix reach the “pretty good” level. Manchester Orchestra had the clearest mix, but it was still too loud and too harsh. I’ve yet to attend a rock concert that has a mix of comparable quality to the studio album, so I don’t think the harshness and volume is unique to WAMU.
Drove around for an hour looking for a parking spot. No luck, so we drove back home without seeing the show. Very disappointed. Guess we’ll look into public transportation if we ever decide to visit Seattle again.
Show was amazing. Venue was amazing. Good was pricey, but that was to be expected. Only drawback was there was only one guy running the only merch table for all three bands, so the line was huge and slow (but not the merch guys fault, he was also awesome). But if you have a chance to see any of these bands, I highly recommend it.
We were super bummed to get tickets to Jimmy Eat World, ft Manchester Orchestra, a billing that typically would mean Manchester Orchestra opened for Jimmy Eat World. You can imagine our disappointment when we showed up 90 minutes after the doors opened to find Jimmy Eat World halfway through their set. Based on the large group of people leaving and discussing it after their set, it was a prevalent theme. Be ware if you book this tour that Jimmy Eat World is opening for Manchester Orchestra.
I really wish Jimmy Eat World would have played longer and been the headliner. They played the newer singles that have been released as well as fan favorites. I went for Jimmy...enjoyed the opener The Middle Kids...and left during the headliner Manchester Orchestra as they were not to my liking.
One of the best concerts I've ever been to. They killed the music, lighting was great, stellar stage presence, and the crowd's energy was the best I'd ever been apart of. You can tell everyone in the building, band and all, was there for a great time!
Sound was amazing, and the event staff couldn’t have been nicer!
Talk opened the show and did a fantastic job with the short set he had. I was second most excited to see Silversun Pickups who played second and they were incredible! The Struts were absolutely amazing and there were many people there just to see them appear. The only song I know by Spoon is "The Way We Get By" which they played and the rest of their set was also incredible. Jimmy Eat World, I am absolutely in love with their latest album, "Surviving" which they only played one track from, "All The Way", which is my least favorite song on the album. So, that was a tad disappointing. I believe every other song they played was from "Bleed American" and "Futures", which are both incredible albums. I just wish they had played more of their muisc from this decade. :\
All of the bands were excellent, and the venue, as always, made the experience wonderful. The one downside of the evening was the mix, particularly for Jimmy Eat World. It was very bass-heavy, and the vocals were not mixed very well.
125 a ticket for GA4 Mistakingly sat at hightop table in unmarked unsupervised VIP are Silversun Pickups through Spoon- THEN someone asked us to move- even although there were 3 empty tables. Took it up worh a manager- got apology for the mishandling All the bands were great. THE ZTRUTS stole the show! Such a fun band. JEatW good. But thwy didnt sing My Beat Theory :(
All of the bands: TALK, Silversun Pickups, The Struts, Spoon, and Jimmy Eat World were amazing.
Great show, awesome venue, easy to order drinks and food!
First of all, Jimmy Eat World and PVRIS were amazing. Parking was easy and $5 cheaper if you prepay online vs. in person. Come early to avoid the long Merch lines. Food was above average. Bathroom lines were long, but moved quickly. Floors were super sticky. Annoying drunk people in seats that don't belong to them.
The whole show was sooooo good from begging to end. 5 bands in one night and you didn’t feel cheated with content. It was cool to see 3 local AZ bands on one bill and PVRIS wicked awesome. I think this was my 4th Jimmy Eat World show, and they were just as good as the first time I saw them. New songs and the old staples. These guys are great. I’ll keep coming to see them as long as they keep playing shows.
I’ve been a fan of Jimmy Eat World for over 20 years and this is the first time I have seen the and this is the best show I’ve ever been to!! I’m a Phoenix native and I’m glad to see my hometown band play a great show
