KAMELOT IN CONCERT:

Power metal band Kamelot offers ticket buyers a theatrical, high-octane live experience that always gets fans’ hearts pounding. Audiences love Tommy Karevik’s mystical lyrics and soaring vocals, especially since he often invites them to sing along with his epic songs. Kamelot’s virtuosic musicianship provides a solid foundation for their majestic tunes, and guitarist Thomas Youngblood is sure to have heads banging with his pummeling, shred-filled leads. Throw in the thunderous, rapid-fire drumming of Casey Grillo and you have the recipe for an unforgettable live show. Kamelot has taken all their power and passion and poured it into their 2015 North American Tour, giving audiences a chance to see this thrilling visual and auditory spectacle for themselves.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Tampa, Florida, in 1991 by guitarist Thomas Youngblood and drummer Richard Warner, Kamelot has delivered classic metal to the masses for nearly two decades. When singer Roy Kahn joined the band in 1998, he helped the band achieve a new level of success with the album Siege Perilous. In 2005 the band taped their first music videos for the songs “March of Mephisto” and “The Haunting (Somewhere in Time)”, two standouts from the album Black Halo. With the release of Poetry for the Poisoned in 2010, the band made its first chart appearance in the US. They followed up with Silverthorn two years later, experiencing similar commercial success while also introducing new vocalist Tommy Karevik to the masses. Their 2015 album Haven continues the band’s hot streak and delivers the same epic story-telling and heavy metal virtuosity that have made them a favorite of metal fans all over the world.

This is the first metal concert I've ever been to, and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it! I came mostly for Ad Infinitum as they are one of my favorites, but Kamelot's show and music was amazing! They've definitely gained a new fan.

great show, but sound mix could/should be better

by carteriii on 5/14/24City National Grove of Anaheim - Anaheim

The show was great, and City National Grove is generally a great venue where you can see well from anywhere, and the two screens on either side of the stage do a great job of showing the specific performer who is singing or doing a solo at that moment. I've seen other music acts that are not metal or rock, and the sound system has always been very reasonable. This was my first metal/rock show at the venue, and I'm afraid the sound mix fell short. I was annoyed that when Tommy was singing in less than his full voice/volume, he would often be inaudible (or at least the lyrics were not understandable) if the rest of the band was playing loud. The bass in particular would simply overpower Tommy's vocals unless Tommy was singing at his loudest. Metal and rock obviously deserve loud bass, but the sound system and mixer should handle this. I suspect Tommy was perfectly audible to the musicians or people wearing in-ear monitors, but I did not feel the mix was appropriate for the venue, where the bass was so loud that it simply drowned out softer vocals. When Tommy was singing softly and the band was also playing softly, everything sounded great. When Tommy was singing at full voice & volume and the band was also on full blast, everything sounded good. But when Tommy was singing anything less than full volume, and the bass was blasting, the lyrics were either inaudible or not understandable. This is common at the old theaters that don't care about the quality of the sound, but this never happens at a venue like the House of Blues that really cares about the sound. City National Gove is normally good, but fell a bit short for this metal show.
