KILLSWITCH ENGAGE IN CONCERT:

Metalcore band Killswitch Engage have made a name for themselves with their heart-stopping combination of sophistication and brutality. At their live shows, the band lays out a riff-heavy onslaught of guitars combined with dynamic vocals that range from bloodcurdling shrieks to low-pitch death growls as they pummel through tracks like "My Curse" and "Holy Diver." In the middle of all this unrelenting intensity is band frontman Jesse Leach, oozing a degree of snarling ferocity that is sure to please metal-heads and hardcore kids alike at the band's 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Westfield, MA metalcore pioneers Killswitch Engage were born in 1999 out of the figurative ashes of other hardcore bands and the literal ashes of Massachusetts' post-industrial Pioneer Valley. Their 2000 self-titled debut album on indie metal label Ferret immediately resonated with fans and nabbed rave reviews, earning them a spot on tour with fellow metal act In Flames. With the 2004 release of third album The End of Heartache, the band truly reached new heights, landing on the Billboard 200 and earning a 2005 Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance. Overall, the band has released six studio albums, selling over four million records in the US and becoming a touring staple on the international metal circuit.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"An awesome show!!! Sang along to every song! Jesse did a great job singing old and new songs!"

"The sound was amazing. Great bands all around. Killswitch was on a whole other level!"

"As a new fan of Killswitch Engage I wasn't totally up to date on all of their stuff...But even without knowing all of their songs I was really feeling their show. The best part of the event was the closing ...so emotional it was perfect!"

  • Terrible sonic mix.

by Bull on 4/17/25Cross Insurance Arena - PortlandRating: 2 out of 5

Killswitch Engage sounded awful. This was not due to a poor performance from the band, but from the mixing board at the front of house. The bass frequencies were so overwhelming that it took me almost a full minute to recognize songs I've been listening to for 20 years. Whenever there was double bass or blast beats played by the drummer the rest of the band was drowned out almost entirely. It rendered the performance utterly un enjoyable. This wasn't as pronounced for the opening acts. Overall, very disappointing experience.

Had a blast, brought my 12yr old son to his first metal show. Frozen Soul, Fit For a King, Kuibla Kan, Killswitch Engage. Our heads never stopped banging!

Great show from the opening act right down to the headliner. Killswitch Engage is just as good live as they are on their records, loved it.

First of all, the entire show was awesome. All 4 bands brought the energy for a Wednesday night. KSE was unbelievable (as always). Brought out some old with the new, and closed out the show with their hits. Definitely worth every cent.

  • Great Show!

KSE are one of the few bands that sound nearly identical in concert as they do on their records. Jessie’s vocals are spot-on. The band is tight and fun to watch. Great show. I particularly appreciate that they have virtually zero down time between songs. They pack as many tunes as possible into the allotted time. Always worth seeing when they’re in town.

  • Great experience.
