Knocked Loose In Concert

The evolution of heavy music has made it so the lines are blurred between genres and sounds, particularly where punk, hardcore, and metal are concerned. As the members of Knocked Loose will be the first ones to admit, they wouldn't have it any other way. The band's 2016 full-length debut, Laugh Tracks, is an aggressive encapsulation of post-hardcore screamo angst, as evidenced by its amalgamations of thrash metal riffing, sludgy tempos, and metalcore-caliber growls. However, the album's subtle nods to other styles — including nu-metal's hip hop-inspired vocals and early heavy-metal smolder — underscore Knocked Loose's commitment to diversity.

The band officially formed in 2013 in Oldham County, Kentucky, though vocalist Bryan Garris had started playing with bassist Kevin Otten and guitarist Isaac Hale several years earlier. Name and lineup changes followed, but the band did find time to issue 2014's Pop Culture EP, a brutal, churning explosion of guttural riffs and Garris' anguished, throat-shredding screams, and a 2015 split EP with Damaged Goods.

After signing with Pure Noise Records in 2016, Knocked Loose's career picked up considerably. In addition to the release of Laugh Tracks, the group earned high-profile opening slots on tours with fellow genre-flouters Every Time I Die and Beartooth, and a spot on the 2017 Vans Warped Tour. Touring with and being around so many different bands has helped Knocked Loose hone a confrontational live show. At their gigs, it's not out of the ordinary to see fans doing flips and jumps off the stage into a teeming crowd of moshers, while Garris growls and stomps around like he's hunting prey. No wonder the group fits in no matter where they go — Knocked Loose makes other groups bend to their approach, rather than changing themselves to fit in with anybody else.

  • Life changing

by Tori on 11/16/24Rating: 5 out of 5

Listen. I’ve been to so many shows. I’ve seen legendary bands live. And I don’t mean to take away from them, but Knocked Loose was the best show I’ve ever seen in my life. The energy in the building when they took the stage was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I actually had trouble doing anything when they first came on, I was shocked. I was speechless afterwards and still have difficulty finding accurate words to describe it. I love Knocked Loose. The crowd was 10/10. Kind and understanding people. It was just the perfect show, besides me vomiting in the pit. Sorry guys. I was too excited.

by Becca on 11/13/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I had such a great time! It sucks that the barricade was so far from the stage. However, the show was fun, I got to meet some of the band members, and I made some friends! Knocked Loose is absolutely amazing, and I was completely blown away! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Amazing sound, stage production, lights, everything. The care put into every detail made it one of the best live shows I’ve ever been to. Great atmosphere also (moshing, crowd surfing)

  • What A Show

    by Shane M on 11/8/24Armory - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Knocked Loose absolutely shut down The Armory in Minnesota. They had the whole crowd moving and screaming at the top of their lungs’. In Isaac’s words,”standing still is not an option”. Every KL set is unique and heavy, however, this time they were extremely polished and played quite a few of their older tracks - which was much appreciated (and everyone knew them)! 10/10 performance, I will not be missing them when they come to town! Their sets make you feel free and alive!
