Miami Dolphins History

The Miami Dolphins are the oldest continuous major-league professional sports franchise in the state of Florida. Founded by Joe Robbie in 1965, they began play in the American Football League as an expansion team in 1966, then joined the NFL as part of the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. The team has made 24 playoff appearances, won 13 division titles, five AFC championships, and two Super Bowl championships. The 1972 Dolphins are the only fully undefeated team in NFL history, finishing the year 17-0 with a victory in Super Bowl VII.

The Miami Dolphins have 17 members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including greats such as Larry Csonka, Bob Griese, Dan Marino, and Jason Taylor. Three Dolphins have had their jerseys retired: Csonka's number 39, Griese's number 12 and Marino's number 13.

Hard Rock Stadium also hosts the annual Orange Bowl, and has played host to major sporting events such as Super Bowl LIV.

With a capacity of 64,767, the stadium completed a $500 million renovation project in 2016 that included the replacement of every seat in the stadium, and the addition of Field Club, North Sideline Club and corner terraces.

The event was amazing. We were so happy to enjoy the event. The emails were super informative. The only improve I recommend is to advise on purchasing a parking pass.

  • Awesome

Hard Rock Stadium is gorgeous. I’m from close to Buffalo and have only ever been to Bills games. Fans down there are super friendly. Had a great time but really unfortunate about the incident outside the stadium after the game!!

  • Seats were Great

Had the Time of my Life with those Dolphins fans. I ran out of tissues to give to them on the way out. They were all crying & I couldn't stand to look at these grown men & woman crying! It was Awesome!!!

  • Nice stadium, terrible parking

by First timer on 1/11/24Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

Fun stadium experience if you don't include the parking element. I bought a pass for lot 42 and it took an hour just to get in from the surface street with 1hr and 45min prior to kickoff. Very little coordination and almost no traffic support. No one checked for my pass. Getting out of the stadium was even worse. Clogged lanes, no traffic coordination - just a mess. Took 1.5 hours to get out of the parking lot. Completely ridiculous.

  • Bills came & took the title

by Rogie on 1/10/24Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

Great game, facility, and atmosphere. Loved the stadium and the process. Not to mention that coming into Miami's house to take the AFC East title is ballsy!

  • Bills Dolphins Game

by SK on 1/10/24Hard Rock Stadium - MiamiRating: 3 out of 5

I was very disappointed when I arrived to our seats. When we purchased our tickets along the railing of the visitor side end zone in May of 23 for $750, the stadium map did not illustrate that there was an bar set up with additional seating on the field in front of us. I feel that if you are going to pay that much for an event, a clear representation of your surroundings should be provided. The constant movement by the patrons in that area made it difficult to focus and have a clear view of the game. My suggestion is to make sure you identify these areas so people can make an informed decision on all their surroundings.
