About

Chart-topping drum and bass band, Pendulum, formed in 2002 in the Western Australian city of Perth. The band's line-up comprised Rob Swire, Paul Harding and Gareth McGrillen. Swire and McGrillen are also known for their work as Electro House outfit, Knife Party. Other members include MC Ben Mount, Peredur ap Gwynedd on guitars and Kevin Sawka on drums. The founding members of Pendulum were inspired after hearing Messiah by Konflict at a nightclub, they decided to contribute to the drum and bass genre, and asked veteran drum and bass DJ, Paul Harding to join.

Rapidly the group became known for their distinctive sound, which combines electronica and hard rock, and incorporates a range of diverse genres, many of which take influences from McGrillen and Swire's former stints in heavy metal band Xygen. Pendulum's first album, Hold Your Color came out in 2005 and become an instant classic in the drum and bass scene, with singles "Ulterior Motive" and "Spiral". The second album, In Silico, was released in 2008 and displayed more of their rock sensibilities.

Mainstream success came with their single "Propane Nightmares". The third album, Immersion, released in 2010, and included singles "Ransom" and "Crush". Collaborations include Chuckie, deadmau5 and Tiesto, and the band have also remixed other band's tracks, including "Voodoo People" by The Prodigy, as well as putting their own spin on songs by Cold Play, Led Zeppelin and Calvin Harris.

The band has played hundreds of shows worldwide, from Europe to North America and are always must-see attraction at music festivals. Currently Pendulum is busy writing new material, and whatever direction they choose to go in, fans will have something to look forward to.

  • Awesome Pendulum Show!

by John and Nicole on 9/9/24Hollywood Palladium - HollywoodRating: 4 out of 5

Positives: Great show! I hadn't seen Pendulum live since their tour with Infected Mushroom. They did not disappoint! Amazing remix of a lot of old favorites. Great sound at the Palladium in LA. Easy parking. Negatives: I will NEVER BUY VIP again!!! Roped off balcony area forced to stand 15 ft, behind the table service that no one was using. We ended up watching the show on the GA floor downstairs. BETTER!

  • Not Even Pendulum

    by CWis95 on 9/16/14Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

I paid $63 for two tickets, fees and all, to find out that Pendulum was not actually there. It said the show started at 10, but my boyfriend and I had to sit through over two hours of two boring DJs playing elevator music. When "pendulum" came on, there were no drums, no guitars, no singer. There was a DJ and some random guy with a mic who kept saying stupid stuff over the music like "YEAH YEAH DC" and singing (badly) bits and pieces of the lyrics. Any time you see a concert for Pendulum, make sure it isn't a DJ set. It was still advertised as "Pendulum" both on the app Bandsintown and Pendulum's site.

Pendulum Dj set was awesome! The venue had a great sound system, drinks were a little overpriced but my overall experience was great!

  • Terrible show

by ImSpecialK on 10/20/13Revolution Live - Ft LauderdaleRating: 1 out of 5

We showed up over an hour late just to stand in a long line and wait to get into the venue. Then the DJ finally comes on 3 hours late (tickets read 7:45pm start time, we showed up at 9pm expecting the place to be hoppin', and he doesn't come on until 11pm. I mean, seriously??). On top of the fact that the DJ playing b4 the main act was awful. He kept playing what we have coined to be "jungle boogie trance" so that by the time the main act came on our senses had been overloaded by an intense, scattered drum & bass (that could be used to torture terrorists) that we left the show 20 minutes after the main act finally appeared. I mean, if you're gonna show up 3 hours late, at least put on an awesome show. He wasn't even interacting with the audience, relying on the lamest "hype guy" ever to get the crowd going. What a waste of money!!!!

  • The whole show was fabulous!!!

I loved it. it was my first dj set and I had an amazing time. Can't wait for another one!!!!

  • Pendulum DJ Set - Awesome

by qbeezer on 11/26/12SoundGarden Hall - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

Having seen the full Pendulum line-up live in concert before, I am a little spoiled, but the dj set was still fun. Although I would have hoped for a longer set and shorter sets from the openers. MC Verse does a great job in pumping up the crowd and there were some awesome moments. I was a little sad that they didn't play more off of In Silico

  • Pendulum Army in Philth-a-delphia

by ebuns on 11/26/12SoundGarden Hall - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

Pendulum was awesome. So was Mord Fustang. The dancers & hoopers on stage were hot tomales. Interactive spider web - so fun. Only complaint - kind of a big one, is that this venue is brand new (Soundgarden Hall) & they had no liquor license! WTH? I didn't get the memo that I had the option of BYOB, so I was pretty bored from 9p to 12:30a until Pendulum started.

  • by phckmdbp on 11/26/12SoundGarden Hall - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

The venue was unusual. No alcoholic drinks on the floor. However people 21+ can reserve a VIP table for only $10 a person and it's completely BYOB. Beer, Wine, Champagne, Liqour are all allowed to be brought in unopened. They have chasers available for $4 each and big tub filled with ice for all your beverages. Very Cool Mord Fustang was awesome Pendulum was awesome Some dude with a microphone kept coming on and needed to shut up.

  • Unexpected Results

    by Rosstopher01 on 11/26/12SoundGarden Hall - PhiladelphiaRating: 2 out of 5

Suprisingly two of the opening acts were better then the headliner Pendulum. I was sort of expecting a live band / dj team from what I've seen in youtube clips but all it was was someone yelling over their cd playing. We left halfway through their set. Oh and tell the Hype Man if you could to chill out. Said the same thing over and over like 50 times. I couldn't vibe to the music with him yelling.

Absolutely amazing! Soundgarden is my favorite venue in Philly. Pendulum seriously killed it! Did not want the show to end!
