Secret Sounds Presents
The return of PULP
Last November Sheffield's PULP, announced they were returning after a seven year break. In early 2011 they announced festival dates in Europe - and now, the irrepressible PULP are returning to Australia.
Heading down under for their first tour in a decade for Secret Sounds, the one and only PULP will headline a series of very special shows across the country in July.
With original members of the band back onboard - Nick Banks, Jarvis Cocker, Candida Doyle, Steve MacKey and Mark Webber - PULP are set to deliver huge sets packed full of hits from their much loved, seven album career. "Yes," promise the band, "that means your favourites."
Fondly remembered, the Mercury Music Prize-winning group were responsible for some of the best-loved anthems of the ‘90s: the monumental "Common People", "This is Hardcore", "Disco 2000", controversial hit "Sorted for E's & Wizz" and more. Albums like 1995's Different Class redefined the sound of British music, while This Is Hardcore (1998) and We Love Life (2002) showcased their musical depth.
Led by Jarvis Cocker (who's enjoyed an acclaimed solo career since their disbanding), he formed ‘Arabacus Pulp' while still at school aged 15. Shortening the band name to  Pulp, they gained renown via the release of 1994's album His ‘n' Hers. Skip-forward eight years and, after platinum sales worldwide, PULP went into hibernation.
"Posing, preening and taking the piss from the moment he sets foot on the stage, Cocker grabs you by your corduroy trousers and doesn't let go..." 3D World
Recently, in a bid to "learn how to play the old songs again", PULP have created PulpTube - an online space where cover versions of PULP songs can be posted.  PULP encourage fans to vote for their favourite cover versions by ‘liking' them - or to even upload your own rendition if you think you can do better.  They are offering a musical prize for the winner so head to www.pulppeople.com
Eagerly anticipated and much, much more than a mere nostalgia trip, don't miss PULP in action this winter as they perform exclusive headline shows near you. These gigs you don't want to miss - come join your fellow common people!

  • I remember the first time

It's 2024 and I've been listening to them for about 24 years now. This was my first time seeing them live and was truly impressed by how good they sound. If you're a fan go ahead and see them you won't be disappointed.

  • Band good, sound and drinks bad.

Pulp were great, though a few too many deep cuts. I appreciate them but a little longer on stage and we could all be happy. Just come on at 8:30 instead of 9. Sound mix was one of the worst. I blame the venue and will not return unless I have to. This was the day I promised myself to never buy a venue beverage ever again. I will drink and eat beforehand and after. $50 for 2 gin and tonics I kid you not. I can buy 1.5 bottles of gin for that. I got 2 drinks loaded with ice in a soft plastic cup. Never again and that’s a solemn vow!!! To be honest the concert experience is kind of over. Everything is just so expensive and everyone is just charging as much as they can get away with for everything. I’m out.

I love Pulp. Always have, always will. I will hold those nights close to my heart and hopefully forever in my brain. The 19th was especially wonderful. Both nights Jarvis gave a spectacular show. I want more !!!! Encore! I will see them again.

The concert was absolutely incredible and one of the most amazing ones I have seen in a long time. Pulp is the best and Jarvis is such an electrifying and captivating performer. The set list was also all my favorites. Can’t wait to see them again!

There aren't enough amazing words to say how incredible that Pulp show at the Palladium was. I can't imagine a better showman in the business who delivered 2 hours of music and made every single one of us happy. Incredible!
