James McMurtry opened for Rodney Crowell - Little long on the opening act, which meant Crowell didn't start until 9:45, but was definitely worth the wait - He had Will Kimbrough on stage with him which was an unbelievable treat in itself - Real energetic set - did not lag at all

  • Rodney Crowell is fantastic

A fine songwriter, fun entertainer, and what a wonderful pair of musicians he chose to bring along for the ride! I particularly enjoyed his rapport with Will Kimbrough. Well worth the late night! This was the first time I ever heard him live. Very enjoyable despite a roudy audience. The sound was great despite a noisy audience. I know you all know him really well, but give us first-timers some slack and pipe down. Neighbor's whistling just about blew my ear drum out. I think he missed the drummer because he played air drums for his favorite songs. His wife sang along. It sure wasn't the Symphony!!! I recommend him highly.

  • Amazing artist. Amazing venue.

What a great evening for the headliner and venue. And the accompanying artists (not side men) were great too.

  • Rodney Crowell was wonderful and so good looking!

He put on a wonderful show, he still has what it takes, his voice is amazing. Sharing some of his life was awsome and so interesting. Sharing his experience w/the RV was a hoot. I could have stayed longer, but he was probably tired after such a performance.

  • Rodney Crowell was great!

My husband and I had not attended one of your concerts before, though our friends had, and were among the several who came back to chat with you prior to the concert at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA. As a result, we go to sit right up front. I was amazed at the number of songs he'd written that I knew, but never associated with him. I would definitely attend another concert, and have already recommended him to several friends. Thank you, Rodney, for a great time!

We are new fans thanks to the Chinaberry Sidewalks book. A one man show that delighted us all thru the entire evening.

  • Chinaberry Road Tour-Rodney Crowell

    by 800platelady on 3/14/11Aladdin Theater - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

What a crowd pleaser - just sit back and enjoy the music flowing over the top of you. Rodney Crowell, laid back and easy going, enthralled his audience with readings from his new book and singing songs from his playbook that took us to a place of contented, sated listeners. And just when you think it's over, he gave us the pleasure of picking out the encore songs. Nice to be entertained by a real person, who enjoyed being there as much as us ticketholders and we surprised him by knowing the music as well (and sometimes better) than he did.

  • Rodney Crowell was wonderful

The smaller setting of the Duck room at Blueberry Hill along with the excellent performance of Rodney Crowell made for an unforgettable night. His music and stories were captivating from beginning to end. Even if you don't know every word of every one of his songs, he puts on such a good show, it doesn't matter. I HIGHLY recommend this show.

This was a wonderful experience. The author reading from his memoirs was as entertaining as his music. I also heard some new tunes which I will look forward to hearing again when his new album is released.

  • Rodney Crowell - amazing

by Anonymous on 2/11/11Aladdin Theater - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

I was blown away by the sincerity of this prolific man. He wove words and music together to create a night of nostalgia, humor and hope in the dysfunction of what we know as our family. I can't wait to curl up with his book to find more of that magic.

  • The songwriting and performance was top-notch.

My wife and I completely enjoyed Rodney Crowell at the Aladdin. It was an intimate concert with just Rodney on guitar and vocals. His performance was heartfelt and emotional. We had seen him before about 4 years ago with a full band and he was GREAT then. This concert was even better with the music stripped down and bare. He is an unbelievable songwriter and he performed some songs he had not done in years, plus some new songs that are yet unreleased.
