Across his career, Shakey Graves--a.k.a. the performance moniker of Austin, Texas-born Alejandro Rose-Garcia--has intentionally created thrilling musical adventures tailored to each fan: burning CDs and putting them in personalized decorated bags; building intricate scavenger hunts that send fans in search of unique tapes; and Bandcamp-exclusive releases.
"The fans and musicians that really resonate with me--and the inexplicable ways that I find things that I like--are usually entirely through randomness and chaos and accident," Rose-Garcia says. "I've always been on this quest to make people feel like my own music is a choose your own adventure."
In 2024 Rose-Garcia celebrated the ten year anniversary of his And The War Came album with a special 10 Year Anniversary Edition release featuring never before heard demos and b-sides from the recording process and inviting fans to enter the long-since abandoned Music House.
His story continues to unfold, but Shakey Graves Is Still A Gentleman From Texas.

This is my 2nd time seeing Shakes Graves. He’s absolutely amazing live
Shakey Graves was absolutely amazing, now that I've seen him live I will attend every concert of his I get the chance to see. Powerful performances. And the Rialto had fantastic acoustics, better than any other venue I've been to in Tucson for a concert.
The audio experience was to notch. Performance and banter were excellent. Lighting design left something to be desired and that something was being able to see the band at all. They went almost entirely back-lit the whole show so we the audience had a bright light in our eyes and the only person we could see on stage was an outline of the singer. I'll never understand when bands do that. I'm here to *see* a band. Opener Tyler Ballgame was excellent (and well lit)!
As always...Shakey Graves put on a phenomenal show
Shakey and the band was awesome! His voice is amazing and he is also a great one man band. We saw him with Buffalo Hunt. She has a beautiful voice, however, she needs to learn how to use it. Her music style is slower and more emo-like which I’m not really into. I really enjoyed the show and hearing Shakey’s voice in person was freaking amazing!
Shakey Graves was amazing. Seeing them live just made the music that much better. I have already bought tickets for the Asbury show❣️
Shakey is outstanding. His voice is awesome and when he gets going, he's mesmerizing. I appreciate that they are doing a "family thing"being on the road together. But the fans paid to see him, and her songs need a lot of work. She has a decent voice but her lyrics and music are just too minimalist and the background images are bizarre. Even as a back-up singer, sometimes she's distracting from his sound. I feel badly saying that because she's certainly charismatic but if they're going to feature her songs on tour, they need more polish in my humble opinion. I think they should feature his work more; it's what people are paying to hear.
Shakey Graves had an outstanding set and stage presence. I loved his solo songs and was very impressed. The opener was also extremely talented and fun to watch. The Wilma is a beautiful theater and I liked the seated options on the balcony.
Shakey put on a fun, energetic show as expected but amps were turned up so loud it caused extreme sound distortion to the point you couldn’t make out his lyrics or half of what he was saying when he was talking to the crowd. Great volume for an outdoor event but way too loud when sound was bouncing off of the four walls. Felt really bad for Futurebirds who had really strong lyrics but with their 4 guitars you could see their mouths moving but couldn’t hear any lyrics. Would have given 5 stars if not for the volume.
The sound system was really bad in this venue. The bass was so loud that I was not able to hear any of the singing. It was a really bummer given I do really like Shakey Graves. I, and the group I was with, ended up leaving early. And we were not the only ones…we were part of a ‘trail of leavers’.
