About

The Allman Betts Band on Tour

When Devon Allman and Duane Betts come together to carry the torch that their fathers — Gregg and Dickey, respectively — bore for so many years, they do it their own way. Sure, they bring classic Allman Brothers Band tunes like "Ain't Wastin' Time No More," "Jessica," "Midnight Rider" and "Blue Sky" to the stage with a sound and spirit that will make their fathers' fans misty. But this is no tribute act. In addition to breathing new life into the old material, they offer up their own tunes, influenced by old-school Southern rock but bearing an undeniably original feel. And along the way they take songs by other artists, from John Lee Hooker to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and put their own roots-rocking stamp on them. Between Devon's pipes and Duane's guitar, old spirits are conjured in an Allman Betts Band concert, but new fires are stoked as well.

The Allman Betts Band in Concert

When Gregg Allman passed away in 2017, the loss ended any chance for the Allman Brothers Band to ever take the stage again. But two men found a way to move the spirit of the ABB into a new era. These musicians are an undeniable part of the band's legacy even though they were never actually members of the band. Gregg's son Devon Allman joined forces with Duane Betts, son of legendary Allman Brothers Band guitarist Dickey Betts, to form The Allman Betts Band. Devon's soulful voice and Duane's fiery guitar work represent the next chapter in a Southern rock story that started with their parents back in Georgia in the late 1960s. There's even a third Allman Brothers Band offspring in the Allman Betts Band — Berry Oakley Jr., whose dad was the former's founding bassist. Those who mourn the Allman Brothers Band will find cause to rejoice in The Allman Betts Band, as not just a rekindling of old memories but a powerful path forward.

  • Huge Sound mix problems

by LAMP on 12/28/24Paramount Theatre - DenverRating: 2 out of 5

The talent was there- the sound was awful- not one mic was adjusted and I know because I sat next to the mixer - center front row of mezzanine. The voices were drowned out by keys and at least two of the guitars.

  • Where was Tal??

by Kathy on 12/25/24Paramount Theatre - DenverRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was great. But where was Tal Wilkenfld ?? I bought the tickets to see her for my husband‘s birthday. He’s a real fan. Per Ticketmaster and live nation. She was supposed to be there. There was nothing saying she was not. We live in North Carolina and we went to Colorado to see her. It was very disappointed.

  • It was pretty good

by RicciMarie on 12/21/24Paramount Theatre - DenverRating: 3 out of 5

Show was as normal, off to a late start. 8:20 I think. got rolling really good and had to stand for the most part of the show. Was too loud at the end after 11:00 pm.

  • AMAZING

by Melissa on 12/21/24Paramount Theatre - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

This show was magical. The talent goes deep in these gentlemen and ladies. Never had a chance to see the beginnings of this great music, but the family brings it now! We are grateful. The guests appearing in Denver made the show that much more special. Jimmy Hall never fails to bring his A game! We have enjoyed him solo, with Jeff Beck and many others. What talent! The eukelele player was an wonderful addition. We were excited to have the opportunity to see him in person! I hope on the next visit to Colorado, a better venue is offered. We are not thrilled to buy premium seats at the Paramont and sit in folding chairs. But it did not impact the enjoyment that the entertainment provided.

  • Outstanding musicians

by Stone on 12/21/24Paramount Theatre - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

Was a wonderful night brought back so many memories of Allman Brothers concerts. Duane Betts is a living legacy of his father; Dickey Betts. Johnny Stanchela also outstanding solos. John Ginty hard to beat on B3 Hammond organ. All the musicians were fantastic🍄🍑🎼🎶🎹🎸❤️

  • A real concert! No backing tracks, lip synching, etc.

by Boston Bill on 12/10/24Orpheum Theatre presented by Citizens - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

A great show with so many great musicians. Kind of old school too with an intermission about half way through. Oh yeah, tickets were reasonably priced too.

  • EXCELLENT

by Deb B. on 12/9/24Orpheum Theatre presented by Citizens - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

I SOOOO appreciate them keeping the music of the generation prior alive and well. I love Duane and find him the most talented. Have seen him w/ The Palmetto Motel several times and he just gets better each time. Then they bring out more "heavy hitters"in the Dickinsons, Lindsay, Sierra, and the fabulous Larry MC. Excellent musicianship on that stage. 3rd time seeing this show in Boston and it definitely won't be the last!!
