TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS IN CONCERT:
As pioneers of heartland rock in the late-'70s, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers championed a no-frills, guitar-driven sound that set them apart from the increasingly technology-oriented approach of much of the era's pop music. Today Tom Petty & Co. are as relatable as ever, treating fans to their classic songs about working class issues and everyday American life with a passion and flair that belie their years. Whether Petty is dancing across the stage with a pair of maracas or lending his iconic voice to hits like "American Girl" and "Mary Jane's Last Dance," he and the band never fail to electrify at their live shows, and their 2014 tour dates with special guest Steve Winwood will be no different.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
After playing in several other Gainesville, FL bands in the early-'70s, Tom Petty formed the Heartbreakers in 1976. The band's self-titled debut initially failed to gain traction in the US, but American audiences eventually caught wind of its popularity in the UK, leading to the 1978 re-release of early single "Breakdown" to a Top 40 spot. In 1979 the band scored their true US breakthrough with the hits "Refugee" and "Don't Do Me Like That," That", the latter becoming their first Top 10 hit. A series of successful albums followed in the '80s, earning the band an impressive string of hits as well as a supporting slot on Bob Dylan's '86/87 True Confessions world tour. Their chart run continued in the '90s with No. 1's like "Learning to Fly" and "You Don't Know How It Feels", which earned Petty a Grammy in 1996 for Best Rock Vocal Performance. Nearly four decades after their debut, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will continue to treat fans to their exceptional live show on their latest tour.

WHAT A GREAT SHOW WISH I WOULD HAVE GONE ALL 3 NIGHTS
I had never seen Tom Petty, although I've listened to his Music for the last 40 yrs. I'm so glad I was there @ the Hollywood Bowl for their Final performance!!! RIP...Wishing you a Safe landing, may the Angels in Heaven light the way!!
Unfortunate that Tom Petty has passed, but the Hollywood Bowl show was the first time I had seen him live. Took my wife & kids and we all found the show disappointing. Tom Petty seemed to be DUI on stage. Show also seemed low energy, going through the motions.
What an unforgettable concert! Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers rocked all night long, singing so many of their hits! He and his band still have what it takes to put on a stellar performance. The audience was fully engaged and loved every minute of it. We'd have stayed all night had they played every last song in their repertoire! Sadly, as I write this, it was to be Mr. Petty's last concert in every way. Heartbroken does not begin to express what we all are feeling at the loss of such a musical icon. We feel privileged to have been a part of his last show. RIP Tom Petty. You are loved and will be missed. Thank you Hollywood Bowl - always a great venue to soak up the music.
The final gig. Rockin' with brilliance and passion and joy. Tom Petty will be missed beyond measure, but he went out riding somewhere in the stratosphere.
It was a real pleasure taking my 16 year old Son to see the last performance of a Los Angeles Rock Legend. Tom rocked the house and left us with something special we could all will never forget, an unforgettable performance! He now has that Room at the Top of the World. We will always love and Miss You Tom Petty.
Tom played like a true rock star that he was and what made it so special was seeing him rock out in a iconic venue such as the Hollywood Bowl.
I waited for years to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in concert. I got that opportunity on September 22, 2017 at the iconic Hollywood bowl. The band and Tom sounded great. Check out videos ftom the concert at the Hollywood Bowl from 9/21/17 - 9/25/17 on youtube to see what I mean. Little did I know that would be the second to last show he ever played. Tom Petty seemed genuinely happy and thankful to be playing in front of such a great crowd in his adult hometown. He told many stories and constantly thanked us for being there that night and for being his fans. I feel very fortunate to have had this experience. Rest in peace Tom.
He was AMAZING. My heart is so sad this morning. Him and his band played so food. They are so cool. We had a blast! Much love
The last night at the Hollywood Bowl at the end of his long 40th Anniversary tour was one big party! He said it would be his last night doing tours, but no one thought this would really be his last performance.....The band was amazing! They did a great variety of songs, several rarities, although with a catalog as big as theirs, there's always a lot to miss. He didn't do "Saving Grace,' 'Even the Losers' or "I Need to Know." However, he played several tunes I'd never heard live in the three times I've previously seen him and the Heartbreakers. Tom spoke playfully to the audience in his home town, where the fans aged from teens to seniors. So Glad we saw this show!
Excuse me if I....have some place in my mind....where i go time to time! Heartbroken My happy place is heartbroken! This was the best best concert ever. He gave all of his love to his fans in every song he played and sung! Thank you Tom Petty I won't back down!
Will be dearly missed!!! Your the best mr tom petty!!!!!
DEAR TOM PETTY, I've loved your music for years, and last Friday night was the first time that I saw you in concert. You and your band were awesome! We all loved listening to the stories you told about your band, watching you perform, and singing along with you!
So grateful I got to see Tom Petty on his 40th anniversary tour. My favorite artist playing at my favorite venue...sang and danced the whole time. I've loved him since the 70s and always will.
MUST SEE SHOW!!! THEY ABSOLUTELY GAVE IT THEIR ALL!!
Unforgettable concert, especially now after Tom Petty's passing. From the opening act, until the fireworks at the end, this show was awesome. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers had the entire crowd singing and no one wanted it to end. They played so many of their hits from the past 40 years. I feel so fortunate that I got to see them in concert. We had a couple in front of us dress up like the Don't Come Around Here No More video and everyone around us loved it! RIP Tom Petty. You will be missed.
Was a great show. Honored to see his last show ever.
AMAZING CONCERT!! I'm so thankful that we were able to see him at the Hollywood Bowl. Thank you for all of your GREAT songs. You will never be forgotten.
Concert was fantastic. This was the first time I got to see Tom Petty, but have attended many concerts at the Bowl. As always an excellent time.
He came out and seemed stoned, he says Heyyy Maannn when he spoke and seemed to be kind of stumbling around the stage. Singing wasn't as good. Alot of people probably didn't care because alot of them were smoking out. This guy came into our box that wasn't the original people and he was out there. I did not like the mix of songs. Didn't hear alot of the favorites. Very expensive.
