  • Where da GOLD at!

by Nunamaker on 3/11/11Denver Art Museum - DenverRating: 4 out of 5

This certainly was an amazing look to 3,000 years back in time. All the artifacts were cool. Amazing condition for how old they are. The gold ones were my favorite. I was really hoping to see his corpse when i bought the tickets, but i guess they are in his tomb in Egypt still. Really crowded when i went though, the only downside..

  • Not quite what I expected...

by MizzMalone on 2/25/11Former children's science museum downtown. - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

If you heard the advertisements for this event you would have expected to be blown away! The artifacts and history were wonderful, but I guess I expected...more for the price. I've succumbed to the wiles of the average wo/man in America...I want to be entertained and this just didn't do it for me:(.

  • King Tut Does Not Disappoint!

    by halfwild1 on 1/19/11Denver Art Museum - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

So enjoyed this exhibit! Having it in Denver was the next best thing to travelling to the British Museum, or to Egypt itself. Alas, I only wish I could have attended Dr Hawass' presentation as well. Also enjoyed Harrison Ford's voice as docent! Who else but Dr Hawass could narrate such an exhibit? I remember when Tut came through Denver over 25 years ago...sorry to have missed that one, although part of my family attended. I didn't want to wait another 25 years to see ancient Egypt up close. Sorry to miss Tut's own famous gold mask, but an exquisite Pharoah's mask nevertheless.

  • Tutankhamun: another one off the bucket list

by JAWork on 1/19/11Denver Art Museum - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

For me this was a major event that I had missed six times before and had no intention of making that seven. By the time we (my wife and I) reached the museum I was so excited that I felt like a little school girl (I'm a very large man). This is one of those things that you know you want to do before you die but are limited on where and when, so it's a do now or miss latter thing when it comes. Take advantage of it while it's here it may never come back and then where would you be. The show was set-up and presented beautifully with a progression of Egyptian royal artifacts, on one floor, leading to the Tut exhibit, the floor below. The tomb exhibit was divided up by the areas items were found in with a room devoted to each area. The whole exhibit was wide open for ease of spectator flow, all items were raised for better viewing, and most could be observed from all sides. All of the displayed artifacts were right up close and personal, I made sure and get within inches of every one, but with a heavy security presence, so hands off. The whole show is photography restricted for the protection of the artifacts, kind of a bummer but understandable, so no family album moments. My best suggestion is to cough-up the extra $10 for the audio tour, it's so worth it. The one thing that I was glad to have prior knowledge of for this show was that they do not display the sarcophagus or the burial mask of Tut. There were a few disappointed people that did not have this bit of info so hears your heads up. Still every bit worth it.

  • Tutankhammun was great!

We really enjoyed the exhibit - all of the items were first class and well displayed.

  • Tutankhamun - introduction

by JATBS on 1/13/11Denver Art Museum - DenverRating: 3 out of 5

This exhibit is a great introduction for those who do not know the story. I have had the good fortune to travel to Egypt, and also to see the previous exhibit which toured the US in the 1970's. Therefore, I have seen the "death mask" and other treasures from the original Tutankhamun excavation. I would like to have seen those treasures again, but as I discussed with my daughter (who is 21) those treasures are not leaving Egypt.

  • King Tut

It was very interesting. The movie afterwards was informative. The down side was there were so many people you could not appreciate the items as much.

  • King Tut was remarkable

by clrdodrew on 1/12/11Denver Art Museum - DenverRating: 4 out of 5

A very well-layed out exhibit with detailed descriptions of each piece. Additional infomation via handheld rentals was a nice option- I did not partake in them though. The only negative was the large crowd. However I did attend on the last day which was also a Sunday. Other than the crowd, it was truly a wonderful experience to witness acient history from a foot away. Seeing 3000 yearold artifacts was really mind-blowing. Thank you to those involved in making this happen. Highly reccommended.

I thought the exhibit was just fabulous. I really enjoyed viewing and hearing about all of the ancient artifacts. There was just so much to see and explore, it was just incredible. I will definitely be planning a trip to go to Eygpt now.
