About

Daniel Chien better known as Wax Motif is regarded as a major orchestrator in developing house sound across the US. With musical influences like R&B, disco and U.K. bass, the Australian-born, LA-based producer brings a unique style to the studio, making him a highly sought-after producer.

In late 2019, Wax founded his very own imprint, Divided Souls Records, with the lead single for the imprint of the same name, "Divided Souls" Ft. Diddy. The imprint has first and foremost served as a home for the Wax's hot streak of solo originals, as well as a collection of collabs, including Diplo, AC Slater, Matroda, 220Kid, Euro Trash and many more.

Wax is coming off his 2022 debut album release, House Of Wax, that has accumulated over 33 Million streams. House of Wax is a seventeen-track LP that showcases Wax Motif's abilities to stretch across all genres of house. The album incorporates electronic music euphoria as easily as it does hip-hop swagger, journeying through meditative, chilled-out vibes, summery, highway-cruising bops, and dance floor bangers.

Wax's music has made it to the decks and supported by acts such as Lee Floss, Dom Dolla, John Summit, Solomun, Meduza, MK, FISHER, Chris Lake, CID, Don Diablo, James Blake, and Zhu. Wax took it upon himself to flip Drake's Honestly Nevermind, yielding radio support and co-signed by Gordo, the original producer of the LP.

2023 the horizon is only brighter with already slated records with Repopulate Mars and Nervous Records in the first few months. Wax has several additional IDs that are circulating the internet and social media, only waiting to be released in the near future.

After a record high of sold out shows, including an advance sell out at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, Wax is keen on showcasing his newest ideas to the biggest audiences across the globe. Having been seen at some of the biggest festivals in 2022 such as Electric Forest, Hard Summer, Electric Zoo, Illfest, ARC and CRSSD. 2023 is only shaping up to be an even more prosperous year.

  • Great set + Bleu Clair opening was fire!

by Stephen on 8/29/23Rating: 4 out of 5

House of Wax was back again! I had an amazing time at the show - the support from Bleu Clair was incredible, definitely got me into the groove before Wax's set! My only qualm is that I wish the 9:30 club let the show go a bit longer - I left being hungry for more and was disappointed at the end time.

    by W. D. on 6/13/23San Jose Civic - San JoseRating: 4 out of 5

First half was fun, good mix. Second half he kind of played out the whole song till it died and it did not flow as well.

  • AMAZING

    by Jo_lemon on 5/3/23Soundcheck - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

It was the after party for day two of project glow, so many guests showed up on stage and provided an out of this world experience. I cannot wait to go back. I was completely blown away

  • Greatest show I’ve ever witnessed in my life

by Ande on 5/3/23Soundcheck - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I mean, this ended up featuring 8 major DJs from Project Glow including none other than Dom Dolla and Green Velvet throwing down techno bangers until 4AM. Absolute legendary, thank you for this amazing show.

  • Great venue but room for improvement

by WaxGang on 6/7/22Hollywood Palladium - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Venue was really big and nice. Since it was a sold out event, it was a bit crowded especially around the bar areas. I'd recommend designated paths for entering and leaving areas. Also, the area behind the bottom floor area could benefit from additional standing tables for people that don't like to be squished in the crowd. Also, more security/crowd control would be useful. Towards the end of the show, it started to smell like vomit in the back area where people were standing and where others from the crowd went to sit down and cool off. Also, the main room could be much cooler. It was very hot, which is the main reason my friends decided to stand in the back.
