We Came As Romans continue to progress and evolve at lightspeed, maintaining a place at the forefront of heavy music and culture.
Never content to follow, they seamlessly alchemize crushing groove-driven catharsis, spacey electronics, and arena-size singalongs into a sound that refuses to sit still, naturally dipping in and out of metal, alternative, hardcore, and rock without breaking a sweat. Since emerging in 2005, the Michigan quintet--Joshua Moore [guitar], Dave Stephens [vocals], Lou Cotton [guitar], Andy Glass [bass], and David Puckett [drums]--have pushed the envelope. Following To Plant A Seed [2009] and Understanding What We've Grown To Be [2011], Tracing Back Roots cracked the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 and catapulted to #1 on the Independent Albums Chart and Top Hard Rock Albums Chart in 2013. Two years later, We Came As Romans bowed at #11 on the Billboard 200, while Alternative Press hailed 2017's Cold Like War as "a milestone for WCAR." Along the way, they sold out successive headline tours and shared stages with A Day To Remember, Bring Me The Horizon, I Prevail, The Used, Sleeping With Sirens, Parkway Drive, and more.
During 2018, the group weathered the tragic loss of original clean vocalist Kyle Pavone. However, the musicians kindled a newfound strength in the wake of Kyle's passing. This energy surged through Darkbloom in 2022. Produced by Drew Fulk [Knocked Loose, Lil Wayne, Disturbed], it earned some of the highest praise of their career. Beyond applause from Loudwire, Consequence, and more, KERRANG! rated it "4-out-of-5 stars," going on to praise the LP as "both a carrier for a knot of emotion, and a tribute to their friend." Not to mention, it yielded two of the most successful tracks of their career. "Black Hole" [with Caleb Shomo of BEARTOOTH] eclipsed 102 million-plus Spotify streams, and "Daggers" [with Zero 9:36] generated north of 32 million Spotify streams.
Moving forward yet again, they ignite another era with the 2025 single "BAD LUCK." On the track, an electronic vocal loop gives way to a thick and trudging battering ram riff. A head-nodding rhythm seethes beneath the verses as Dave wonders, "Been fighting for space with all the same ghosts, am I spinning out of control?" It culminates on a chantable chorus, "I spent all my life wondering why the bad luck always comes so easy...All this time, I've realized the worse things in life are free."
About "BAD LUCK," the Dave said, "Bad Luck is a song that is so important to each of us. Lyrically, it's about our journey as a band since the very beginning. We've faced so many setbacks and problems behind the scenes, and sometimes it feels like Bad Luck is all we have - but the way that we've persevered through all of them to become who we are today is the real story, not the issues along the way."
As always, We Came As Romans level up again with more music to come in 2025 and beyond.
Amazing music and amazing performers. Music sounds better live than it does in the studio recordings! Will be seeing them again 1000%
Experience at the club was great. It is a small venue, which are the best ones.
Great sound, great showmanship and fantastic crowd involvement, 10/10, I WILL be at the next We Came As Romans show close to me.
Show was phenomenal. Only issue was Emmure’s vocals weren’t mixed great, but it was only their set that was that way.
A good time only issue was drink prices are to high
Spectacular performance. Great on spotify and even better live.
The bands did amazing! But I believe that the sound of the bands were too loud for the small room that we were in. It was so loud you could not hear any of the bands singing without the reverb overwhelming everything they were saying. This is not a normal problem as I've been to many shows at old national, and even a few in the Deluxe room where the concert was held. But it was enough of an issue that we actually ended up leaving the show early that day.
This is a good venue. Its a little narrower than I'm used to, but the stage is elevated so you can see real easy no matter where you are. The basements alternative viewing spot was also cool.
Basically the first metal concert I've been to! These guys are great, they have tons of energy and sound really good live. The different effects used on stage added to it as well, not too much and not too spare.
The venue was sold out so it was a little crowded. The performances and sound quality were great! The Rooam app made purchasing drinks very quick and easy.
Great performance by each band! Energetic and overall a fun time
The show was amazing start to finish. ERRA and WCAR really brought it home. The pit was fast and rough! Just what a girl needs for a VDay! The crowd really brought the matching energy and the venue staff were efficient and professional. Had a perfect time!
I've been listening to We Came As Romans since I was a teen and got to see them perform way back when and they still carry the same energy today as they did then. Dave is doing great as the vocalist and Darkbloom is amazing in general, not only for the writing but for the emotion and feel around it. It was amazing watching them put on the show with ERRA and Brand of Sacrifice (who are both sick live as well) and I'll definitely be there when they come back around.
This was my first time seeing WCAR and they are a special band. I wish I went out more as a kid but I was always so broke, so I can’t be too angry for not doing so. WCAR hasn’t missed a beat and have adjusted well after Kyle’s death. Varsity is a great venue to watch shows too. Very intimate and I was able to talk with fellow rock fans. Make sure to bring ear plugs but I loved every bit of the concert. Bravo 🎉
Great show! We Came as Romans never fail to impress.
Had an awesome experience. Getting to meet the band before the concert was great, all the band members were very chill and down to earth. And were very appreciative for all of us coming out. During the concert was just awesome. The band came out with a lot of energy and put on a great performance. Not only that but they did a great job with connecting with the audience, as well as keeping us actively engaged. Would not only see them again would would definitely recommend to friends to go and see.
Love the Underground and the bands!! Love the venue! We love coming there and often!
Brand of Sacrifice, Erra & WCAR was the perfect package for this tour. Just banger after banger. Energy off the charts!!!
WCAR knows how to get a crowd to wild out, that’s for sure!
Great experience really energetic event and nostalgic lived every second of it
