They delivered the papers, until they made the headlines…Direct from Broadway comes NEWSIES, the smash-hit, crowd-pleasing new musical from Disney. Winner of the 2012 Tony Awards® for Best Score and Best Choreography, NEWSIES has audiences and critics alike calling it "A MUSICAL WORTH SINGING ABOUT!" (The New York Times) Filled with one heart-pounding number after another, it's a high-energy explosion of song and dance you just don't want to miss.
Based on true events, NEWSIES tells the captivating story of a band of underdogs who become unlikely heroes when they stand up to the most powerful men in New York. It's a rousing tale about fighting for what's right…and staying true to who you are.
NEWSIES was brought to the stage by an award-winning creative team. It features a score by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast) and Jack Feldman (The Lion King II: Simba's Pride) and a book by Harvey Fierstein (La Cage Aux Folles), with choreography by Christopher Gattelli (South Pacific) and direction by Jeff Calhoun (Big River).
Now is the time to seize the day with NEWSIES!
The cast was fantastic! Beautiful dancing and amazing acting. Such a memorable performance.
Great production even with some new revisions from the movie. The top 1/2 of the stage was lost because of the balcony overhang which I did not know about having never been to the theater before. But the show itself was fantastic. The tap number was my favorite. I think tap is a lost art.
I have seen this show 5 times (including two weekends in a row this summer) and I would see it again. It is wonderful. How sad that this is the last tour...
I thought the choreography was fantastic and the cast really gave 100% on working together and presenting themselves on stage. I thought that the sound on some of the musical numbers made some of the voices hard to hear or distinguish from the background noise, but overall a great performance.
This was my FIFTH time seeing the Newsies and I would easily see it five more times - or five times five! My family has traveled to Cleveland, Washington, D.C., Detroit, Chicago, and Cincinnati and every performance is top notch! The best part is afterwards at the Stage Door when we have the opportunity to share how much we appreciate their hard work and talent. Meeting the actors who put every ounce of energy and joy into each performance gives encouragement to other actors, singers, and dancers. Always a fabulous show and an amazing cast. Well done once again!
Great show!! The lead singers were fantastic and the dancing was amazing. Great for younger audiences.
Second time I have taken my daughters to see this touring company of Newsies. It did not disappoint. Such a fun show. The staging, choreography and voices were outstanding.
I wasn't sure if this could hold up to oldie but goodies like Lion King, Singing in the Rain, etc. But it did! It has a great story line, talented singers/athletes and a unique set. The tumbling and tap is amazing! The "complimentary" suite access was good for use of the private bathroom. Wine was definitely a well drink grade.
This was one of the best musicals I've seen. Glad I knew the history behind this story to better help understand the story. The actors had so much energy and the singing eas exceptional. Would recommend this to everyone and all ages !
This was a fun production, even if I didn't watch the movie beforehand. Good musical numbers, good gymnastics and very entertaining story. When this comes back to town, see it. You won't regret it.
