He stayed in the Lone Star State all through high school and went to college in Georgetown, Texas at Southwestern University. He had originally planned on getting a degree in education but ended up working as a DJ in Dallas. It was this job, which led him to try amateur stand-up nights that launched the beginnings of his comedy career. Engvall made the long-distance move to California in 1990 so he could seriously pursue a career in stand-up, and his first major break was co-hosting A Pair of Jokers with Rosie O'Donnell. He also made short appearances on The Golden Girls, The Tonight Show, An Evening at The Improv and The Late Show with David Letterman. By 1996, he had a contract with Warner Bros. and started his series of comedy albums, the first of which was title Here's Your Sign. This went on to become his signature line and a major part of all of his standup routines. He gained widespread notoriety as part of the 2000 Blue Collar Comedy Tour, which included big-name comedians Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White and Larry the Cable Guy. He went on to participate in the tour for six years, as well as star in three related films, the Blue Collar TV show and a satellite radio show. Fans can follow him on Twitter @billengvall
We had a great time. Bill Engvall was hilarious! We would see him again any time!
Our second time seeing Mr Engvall, the last shortly before his “retirement!” He apologized in advance to the audience that this was his first show since and that he really missed being on stage. He had a great show and was clearly enjoying the very positive feedback from the audience! Great show! Fun night!
A little shaky at the beginning and seemed nervous but slowly became into his own with her personality and stories. Very sweet guy and funny clean jokes
Bill was a great and funny storyteller as expected. I would definitely see him again. The only thing I expected there would be more new material since he was coming out of retirement. 90% of it was older stuff.
I love to watch Bill Engvall. His comedy is relatable and he doesn’t have to cuss and use the F-bomb to be funny.
I have always loved Bill Engvall and his comedy. It is so relatable. Based on this being his first show back in 2 years he has NOT missed a step. He was born to do this, and I am so happy he made us his first show back. Anyone thinking of seeing a show I highly recommend, and the Venue was terrific as this was our first time seeing a show at the Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort.
Venue was very nice. Performance was good. Would to and see another show at this venue.
My husband and I greatly enjoyed seeing Bill Engvall return to the stage! I had assumed that it would be new content, different from his last Netflix special, but it was close to the same. Nevertheless, it was still an enjoyable experience and the whole audience loved him.
My husband and I enjoyed the show. Bill was very funny as we had never seen him before. We are glad we went and had a good time.
Show: classic Bill, with some new content as well as the familiar material that has been shared on YouTube. The advantage of attending the show is that you get the connection between the “bits”, so it felt much more cohesive than just watching the clips on video. Venue: I did not enjoy having to walk thru the smoke-filled casino to get into the actual show venue, (yes, I know I’ve been spoiled by not having to be exposed to cigarette smoke in public places any more). As I’ve gotten older I’ve become more sensitive, so ended up with a sore throat after the show. The show venue itself was very nice, with good acoustics and large screens for those of us up in the nosebleed seats, lol.
We love the show. Bill was as funny and engaging as ever. So glad he is back. We have missed his humor, and views on life. For his first show back after retirement, he has not lost a step!! The Venue is a wonderful place to see the show. No bad seats!!
Much like musical acts, when comedians continue past their prime, it shows. Bill was much funnier years ago. Not to say he isn't funny now, but he's definitely lost a lot. It's a good show. Not great.
The venue is great! Great, not a bad seat in the house! Food and drink are expensive, but about what you would expect at an event venue this day and age. The show was very funny, we enjoyed it very much. If I have one criticism, it's that there was very little new material. Most of it is rehashed from older tours.
I am glad Bill came out of retirement! Lot's of great full belly laughs provided by his performance.
I want to say I had a great time at your show at the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa Florida. I never laughed so hard and was the first time my husband attended your show and he loved it as well. We hope next time that you go on tour you will stop by in our neck of the woods, perhaps at Ruth Eckard Hall, where I know you would sell out the arena in no time. thanks for making us all laugh we need it nowadays that's for sure
Bill had everyone laughing from the moment he told his 1st joke. GREAT SHOW!
Loved the convention center. Bill was great but would have liked a warm up act as the show was under 2 hours. I thought I was getting aisle seats but ended up with seats on the wall side so maybe it was good it was a short show! LOL. I look forward to more shows in Ocean City.
Excellent show! I wouldn't expect less from Bill Engvall. Venue was great, VERY clean and organized.
They need to come up with a way to serve drinks more efficiently. It was a mess.
Bill Engvall was great. We laughed so hard. We will miss seeing him live. Best wishes for you your retirement Mr Wngvall.
