Capricorn Revival Concert @ City Auditorium, Macon, GA
by TheOtherOne on 6/3/20Macon City Auditorium - MaconRating: 5 out of 5These guys did a great job of covering 50 years of hit-making from musicians and recordings from Macon. So many musicians, so many hits, almost too much to absorb. Band leaders Chuck Leavell and Randall Bramblett and band did a great job re-creating arrangements of these songs that are etched into our memories. Of course there were a couple of cool surprises. Jonathan Edwards (a New Englander who had the first gold-selling single on Capricorn Records), Bonnie Bramlett (who many forget was briefly with the Allman Brothers Band) and still sounds great, Duane Betts did a surprise cover of his father's 'Pony Boy' and a two-acoustic-guitar version of the Allman's 'Little Martha' that brought a hush over the crowd. Marshall Tucker Band, Wet Willie, Elvin Bishop, Sea Level and of course multiple Allman Brothers Band favorites made up the night, finishing with a sparking version of 'Jessica' and the appropriate 'Revival' to send everyone home. Keep On Smilin' indeed!
