I thought Jeff was good, but Everette Harp and Paul Jackson Jr. were definitely the stars of the show. This was my first time seeing these artists, but it is definitely not my last. We all had an amazing time.

  • Great musicians! Terrible mix.

The musicians were great! Mix was terrible! Too much bass and snare. Not enough keys and guitars.

  • Weak

Ken Ford was the best artist this night. Remax sponsored the concert and treated it like a telethon, always asking, pleading for money. Didn’t think all 3 performers would come out the same time and play together. We got duped.

  • Disappointed!

As a musician, I have wanted to see Jeff Lorber perform live for quite some time, and I was eagerly looking forward to this concert. Ticketmaster indicated the concert would begin at 7PM and there was no mention in Ticketmaster's promotion of the event of anyone else scheduled to perform. We arrived early, got our seats (which we paid a premium for) and then were forced to sit through excessively loud music being played by a DJ filling time prior to the performance. Then we sat through a lengthly barrage of speeches by local Atlanta Remax sales agents trying to drum up business, and also someone running for mayor of a nearby town in Atlanta. There was however one touching moment when a young woman spoke on stage of her recovery from a severe illness thanks to the care she received from the hospital. Then we had to sit through a lackluster performance by a "warm up"band playing covers (comprised of several ReMax sales agents, who struggled through a set). Then after an hour+ of more speeches by various people, another warm up band was brought on stage to perform. The sound mix was both atrocious and dangerously loud (that is if you value your hearing). Not sure why concert venues feel the need to set the sound levels to such ear splitting levels in an effort to create "excitement". They should hand out ear protection with the price of admission. We patiently sat through hours of all this prelim filler, waiting for Jeff Lorber, Everette Harp and Paul Jackson to hit the stage. We actually began to wonder if we had the correct night for the Jeff Lorber concert and if he was even on the bill to perform that night and asked various venue staff to confirm if he was on the bill. Looking around the amphitheater, many people had already tuned out and were scrolling away on their cell phones. Finally, after over 2 hours of waiting and enduring all the prelim filler, we finally could not take it any longer and left the venue before seeing the very act we came to see. This is the first time I ever have walked out of a concert !! -- and with a musician I was so looking forward to seeing perform (a fellow Berklee alum). Ticketmaster should at the very least have promoted this event more clearly with the additional information that there would be two other performances, and also that the concert event was a fundraiser for a local community hospital. This would have better set expectations. In the end, while I was extremely disappointed that I did not get to see the act that I came to see. My only solace was knowing that the proceeds from my ticket purchases were going toward supporting a charitable organization, so at least my investment went to a good cause. Overall, very, very disappointed, and not sure I would return to this venue again for another future performance.

  • Chasing Memories

by PeteC on 9/25/23Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 4 out of 5

I'm a big fan of Jeff Lorber. I first saw him back in the early 80's at a small indoor venue when Kenny G was with him. Overall the concert was very good, especially the 2 earlier acts, Ernest Quarles and Friends and Ken Ford. There were some setup issues that delayed The Legends of Jazz from getting started which likely factored into the late start and relatively short duration of their session. Everette Harp had some great solo's, and Paul Jackson Jr's were very good. But Jeff's solo's were few and short, and only glimpses of what I was expecting.

We sat front row center but it wouldn’t have mattered where we sat. It was a wonderful show.

Convenient parking, police traffic escorts for crossing Ridge Rd, plenty of refreshments, great seating, comfortable temps and air circulation. Awesome musicians, all excellent performers. Loved hearing Tune 88 at the end!
