My wife loves this play. We have seen probably 6-7 productions. This was one of the best we have seen! We would recommend it highly. Great cast, great production.

  • Joseph was a joy!

by DEBLUVBUNNY on 10/25/17Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I took my stepson for his birthday. We all enjoyed the musical tremendously. The performers were outstanding, the children were a wonderful treat. Joseph without a shirt was quite the distraction! Only issue was my husbands chair cushion popped off and he had to be careful getting up which unfortunately we had to do quite a bit being in the first few seats of a very long row. Not enough room for people to walk by us without getting up for them.

  • Bad experience

by Cuz62 on 10/24/17Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza - Thousand OaksRating: 1 out of 5

The show had great potential, but was ruined by an audience member that was allowed to make so much noise that it was impossible to enjoy the show. The staff watched it happen, and did nothing. The manager handled it badly when approached. The entire second act was destroyed by an audience member...and was allowed. Very sad. Sad for the hard working actors, sad for those like me who payed a lot of money to hopefully enjoy a good show.

Have watched 5 different versions of this wonderful musical over many years. This is one of my family's favorite musicals. Because of the music and uniqueness of this musical, because of the choreography of the brothers' dances and because of the social media kick unique to this production - (absolutely hysterical), I gave it 3 stars. Reason I didn't give it 4 stars is because, well, the quality of the performers was not great (the narrator however was quite talented). There was only one dancer that stood out (one of the brothers - (tall skinny guy always in center). If it was my first time to see this musical, I would have wondered what the purpose of the chorus of children was for. Too bad not incorporated better in the beginning. However, I would still recommend this to people just because nothing beats Andrew Lloyd Weber's music and the uniqueness of this musical. Seeing different versions is quite fun!

  • Terrific show!

Well done!! Totally enjoyed the whole thing. My wife thought the updated dancing style detracted from the overall show but I didn't have a problem with it.

This is one of the most creative musicals I have seen. While I have never seen this show before, I am familiar with the story that it's based on. The story is of Joseph, a man gifted with the ability to foresee the future and decipher dreams, believes he is meant for greatness but gets sold into slavery and struggles to survive. This musical is based on and is very faithful to the story of Joseph found in the Bible's Book of Genesis 37. While it's a musical, it's not a conventional musical. First of all, there's hardly any spoken dialogue, nearly the entire show is sung. Second, every single song was done in a different musical style and genre of music. Thirdly, the sets reflected the style of music that the songs were being performed in. For choreography, this version of the musical was done in the style of hip-hop, which the costumes reflected a mixture of traditional and contemporary looks to tell the story. The singing was phenomenal, especially from the Narrator and Joseph. Those two had the strongest and most powerful voices of the whole show. The actors demonstrated their acting ranges and abilities by being both comedic and dramatic. Due to the fact that you're so invested in the performance, it flies by. Overall, this was a fun, bright, and energetic musical that I recommend you experience at least once.

  • Extremely well done and uplifting production

This theatre group did a wonderful job, all the way from the leads to the children's choir, to the choreography, to the orchestra. I would recommend this intimate setting for this show by these folks anytime!

We have seen Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat 4 other times and this was absolutely the best we have ever seen. The voices were amazing but the dancing and Dave Scott's choreography blew us away!!! You really don't want to miss this show!!!!

Absolutely FABULOUS!! The entire cast is wonderful - so talented. They must rehearse 24/7 because they are always in perfect pitch and unison in their dances. I can hardly wait to see it again. I'm really surprised there wasn't standing room only. What a great opportunity this production provides to the young folks and children who perform in the show.

  • An Outstanding Performance of Our Favorite Musical

by VenturaPhantomLover on 10/16/17Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

This was our eighth time of attending Joseph performances from Los Angeles venues, to local performances and we have even spoken to Donny Osmond praising him for his run as Joseph. So our attitude going to this performance was "been there, done that." We are not fans of hip hop and we heard that the choreographer might be including that into the production. However, from the beginning note of the overture to the curtain call, we were stunned at the excellent quality of the performers, the music, dancing, lighting and of course the story of Joseph. We have never seen such dancing! Maybe I like hip hop after all, especially with the way Benjamin danced, spun and back flipped all over the stage. The children really added to the performance. We have seen two productions without children and it's just not the same; I think at one point I counted more than 40 children on stage. Several times during the show we were brought to tears by the performances and the emotion put into the music, singing and dancing. We cannot praise this production of Joseph enough and we are glad we got to witness it. We may look into buying tickets to see this production again before the end of the run because we can't get it out of our minds days later. If anyone is on the fence about seeing this show, you must go!

  • Joseph and Toby's are a great combo!

by BJDO on 8/17/17Toby's Dinner Theatre Columbia - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

I took my kids (now 23 & 26) to the Toby's in Baltimore 10 years ago, I haven't personally been to Toby's in Columbia in 25+ years. Last week I took my wife for her birthday and my parents for their 60th anniversary as well as 4 family friends. At the end of the evening, it was hard to hold back my smile with the compliments from all about my choice of venue for the celebrations - everyone have a wonderful evening! The show was great, the open buffet has something for everyone and the food quality is far over hotel par. You simply can't go wrong with an evening at Toby's.

  • What a great play by talented young people!

by Jedley on 6/30/16Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft LauderdaleRating: 4 out of 5

We were very pleasantly surprised to find a high caliber play come from a local troupe for young aspiring actors. The actor that played Joseph was superb and had my very critical, theatre-going family impressed with his beautiful voice, his presence on the stage and how he made the role his own. The staging was creative and the children were obviously inspired to do well. The supporting cast was so well prepared and energetic that it made the show very memorable. We really enjoyed our evening with this inspiring group of actors and left with a huge smile on our faces!
