  • Great Energy, Great Venue!

by Francine B. on 9/4/24Jimmy's Jazz and Blues Club - PortsmouthRating: 5 out of 5

Really enjoyed both the musicians and the venue. It was fascinating to see a legend like Stanley Clarke with a younger generation of such talented musicians. They enjoyed performing and we enjoyed being witnesses to their talent.

  • Truly Fantastic

by Sam on 9/4/24Jimmy's Jazz and Blues Club - PortsmouthRating: 5 out of 5

Besides one of the best jazz bassists in the world, the rest of the musicians were unbelievably talented. Jimmy’s Jazz club as a venue cannot be matched. Great food, drinks and service, not to mention a top-notch sound system.

  • Blown away.

by Headless on 7/2/24The Vogel at Count Basie Center for the Arts - Red BankRating: 5 out of 5

It has been a very long time since I've had my head blown away at a concert. Stanley starts off playing on his double bass. He has an amazing band. They do lightning-fast scales in the song but then the solos start. When it's Stanley's turn he starts off with his Flamenco strumming of the double bass and then proceeds to slap and pop the double bass. So was this Stanley's way of saying ok, I'll blow your heads off with this first song then you can just sit back and absorb.

  • Disappointed..

by Peace on 5/20/24Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - CincinnatiRating: 2 out of 5

Didn’t play enough old school for me. The show was too short me. Disappointed in the performance from Stanley..sounded like a rehearsal to make the band. Won’t be attending his concerts anymore.

  • Fantastic

by Craig on 5/15/24Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

If you like jazz fusion at all, you will love the show. I wish he would come back once every month or two. The musicianship was absolutely incredible and Stanley is still at the top of his form. Hard to believe that the first time I saw him was almost 50 years ago and he has not lost a step.

  • Five man show

by Cinamin on 5/14/24Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - CincinnatiRating: 2 out of 5

Didn't care for this concert at all. Each musician had a solo with one having two and that's basically what the show was. Listening to each one play for 15 minutes. If it weren't for the fact the light on my phone would have been distracting, I would have played a game. My hubby thought it was good.

  • Stanley Clarke is phenomenal!

by Katwoman on 5/14/24Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

The Ludlow Garage's smaller venue with a restaurant above it was wonderful. Service was good and people were friendly and helpful. But do get there early to get a parking space. So much more enjoyable than being in huge venue looking at screens to see the performers. And wow! They were phenomenal!! BEST CONCERT IN DECADES!

  • Stanley Clarke

by Marudy on 5/14/24Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Stanley Clarke is a living legend to start! So to say expectations were high is an understatement! Mr Clarke surrounded himself with fantastic young musicians! The drummer also named Clark no E was probably the most technically gifted musician I have ever seen! The same for the other 3 the violinist was also extraordinary! I have seen Jean-Luc Ponty 3 times and this young man is right there with him! Mr Clarke also is one of the nicest people around! Fantastic show! Thank you

  • Outstanding musicians

by Miggs on 5/14/24Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was so much music in one evening. Mr Clark is the Master but his acompanying musicians - violin, keyboard, drums - proved themselves more than worthy to play with the man.

  • 40 Years...Well Worth the Wait

by The Review on 5/14/24Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

1981, A young Soldier from NY stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. I grew up with music and it has always been my escape throughout my life and especially during my Army service...21 Years of traveling the world, defending Freedom. I bought this album, School Days, Stanley Clarke. Took it back to the barracks and played it on my Technics turntable and Bose 601 speaker system. The entire album was phenomenal. School Days was my favorite. I could air guitar every note in my head. I followed Stanley throughout my Military career and missed seeing him, several years ago, in Cincinnati, where I currently reside. That chance came again, and I bought two tickets for the Saturday night show at The Ludlow Garage. The band came out....and Stanley aged very well. We both did :-) I won't go into the title of all the songs he played, I just was waiting for that one. Everything he played was exciting and entertaining, as well as the solos from his band. I seen a few standup bass players, but none as entertaining as Stanley Clarke. He didn't miss a beat as he played and interacted with the audience. I was in awe of this Master of his Craft. Then came School Days...you Never forget those first three notes. I started choking up and had to wipe a tear or two from my eyes - it reminded me of some life changing times that year. Things I had buried deep within. Stanley Clarke played the hell out of that song! The entire band was in synch and the back and forth challenge with the drummer was Powerful, and Great to See, and Hear, and Feel!! The entire audience was on its feet shouting, screaming, and applauding in High Gratitude for such a Great Performance!! The Ludlow Garage is Cincinnati's Premiere Concert Venue for Up Close and Personal Performances!! 2nd to None!!
