  • SMV was awsome

by bklynbell on 7/15/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This was one of the best live jazz performances that I have ever seen and I have seen plenty. I went with someone who is not a real jazz lover and she loved it. It is definitely a must see concert.

  • SMV - Thunder: the best bass players in the world!

by iRusty on 7/15/09House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten combine to create virtuoso music that blows away trained musicians (like me), but more impressive is the fact that my teenage son and his friends said "it was the best concert they've ever been to". Don't miss the opportunity to see a unique combo play great songs, amazing riffs, but above all, have fun with the love of music. Rusty

  • THUNDER WAS EXPLOSIVE

The venue was great. Each player soloed and strutted their stuff.

  • Clarke/Miller/Wooten was awesome

I saw them last year for my birthday and was happy to see them come back again and treat myself to another great time this year for my birthday.

Been an admirer of Stanley Clarke since the early Eighties. He's still got it, and got it good! Marcus & Victor carry the baton with great skill. I was unfamiliar with either of them prior to this event, but they love and respect that bass guitar with the fervor of their mentor. The thump & rumble of the 3 of them, and their incredible interplay was riveting. Thoroughly entertaining.... I'll be back!

  • Best Concert in my life

by Roggie on 7/15/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

These guys are freaking awesome~! Skill wise, they are unbelievable! Victor Wooten has great composition, Stanley Clark is so so so great! The keyboardist is not so great and solo is boring and long, otherwise all the others are best of the best !!

  • Bass Heaven!

One of the most incredible shows i have seen in a long while...

  • Bring on the Thunder!

by linnypin on 7/15/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This was a wonderful concert. I brought my boyfriend who is a bassplayer and we had the best time ever. SMV are the most talented musicians and we were honored to be in their presence. The sound was execellent, you could hear every note of every chord. The vantage point was unexpected. I had never been to the Nokia before, but you literally can see the stage from every area on the venue, and because it it a smaller venue, the combination of sound and sight was unmatchable.

  • SMV: The Thunder Tour - Incredible

by basslover on 7/15/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I've been a bassist for 30 years, so I was familiar with all three of these legends. I'd purchased the CD last summer and was blown away. Seeing them live was even better. Obviously, there is no questioning their talent and abilities. But what really impressed me was the way they interacted. There were no egos, no upstaging. Clarke, Miller, and Wooten are three of the greatest electric bassists...ever. But they each took a backseat to let another shine. They played almost the entire CD during their set (I don't remember the order). They did one encore: an inspiring rendition of Clarke's classic, School Days. I came away from the concert trying to decide if I wanted to sell my bass, or stay up all night practicing. :) Afterward, they sat at a table and signed programs and shirts that were purchased at the event. They were all very personable and friendly. All in all, an amazing night.

After you think you have seen all the amazing bass playing, they blow you away. My son is a great bass player but did not even want to play the next day. Just kept seeing the fingering in his head. On the second day after the concert, he could not put his bass down. Inspiring.

  • SMV WAS THUNDEROUS!!!

by Cashrock on 7/15/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Thunder could be the only name for a tour of such power and soul. Three bassist's of such magnitude on one stage is truly a unique experience for any musician. The absolute timing and precision that these masters demonstrate goes far beyond the common basics of any group performing today.

  • Exelent....exelent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Gustavo on 7/14/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I'm a bass player. To see the best bass players, the very ones that invented most of the techniques I use everyday would be like being a scientist and see Einstein. As a bass player, it was the best experience of my life.

  • SMV was unbelievable!

by bassist on 7/14/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I'm a huge fan of all three of them individually, and as a group they were incredible. Also, Derico Watson and Federico Gonzales Pena were a perfect pit for the band. A great set in a great venue with just about perfect acoustics as well.

  • Unbelievable bass playing!

by Cheryl0213 on 7/14/09House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

this was a great show - all very talented musicians - it was fun to see the newcomers with Stanley Clarke, a classic! My husband enjoyed the show as much as my 14 year old son did! These guys are inspiring a whole new generation of bass players!

  • SMV

by TNewhouse on 7/14/09House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Wow, it's so hard to describe how good this concert was. SMV was absolutely unforgettable, the best concert I've ever seen!

  • Clark/Miller/Wooten were reeling in creativity !!

by Seaquiver on 7/14/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

It was my first time to the Nokia theater. A nice blend of dancable theaterlike and bar service combined. The music by these guys was top notch. Stanley ripped some tunes on the biggest muffler sax I know of and it sounded great. Victor kept it to the vibe of the oceans with some surfable tunes and Mr Miller was right in the game. The high performance mountain of talent of these three provided an memorable experience for everyone I am sure.

  • Stanley, Marcus and Victor, Need I say more!

by MODARE on 7/14/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best events on the planet, three generations of bass mastery. the opening with SMV truly was "Thunderous" with all three members in sync playing funk, spewing riffs and notes that leaves everyone awe stricken and loving it. It was Marcus Miller's birthday which made the evening all the more special. Clarke on the upright! Amazing to hear and watch. Wooten playing notes we're all still trying to figure out. The Best Evening Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SMV was an Incredible Experience

by Shizzznit on 7/14/09House of Blues Boston - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Three generations of bass players, all with tremendous skill. Their joint sessions were awesome, but it was the solos where each artist really shined.

  • SMV is Absolutely Awesome!!!

SMV was absolutely amazing. One of the greatest concerts of all time to attend.

  • Thunder was terrific

by Rich7 on 7/14/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Although the venue was not great (Nokia Theater stage is too far removed from seating and I had to stand for more than three hours due to a delay), the music was great. Victor, Marcus, and Stanley are some of the best musicians in the world. I thoroughly enjoyed the concert.
