Awesome Manhattans show…it’s a must see and hear blast from the past.
Tickets were purchased and picked up at will-call. You get in line to pick up and then, in addition, you must take a second numerical number. You then must wait in a bunched up, packed corral in the entry hall until this second numerical ticket number is called. You then must have the original purchased ticket scanned at the entertainment area entry. Is there a reason that the purchased ticket alone cannot be used for entry. Patrons could then get seated and orders placed right away. The venue could be bumping up sales while people are ordering drinks and the patrons are seated and comfortable for the 2 hours waiting for the show. This concept could be a win-win for the business and the patron. It does not seem to matter if you purchased tickets way in advance, you have to wait and wait in this terrible corral for a separate numerical number to be called. We got to the venue 1 1/2 hour early. That did not matter, the actual entertainment area was already almost filled. Why can't the original ticket alone be scanned to alleviate guests being herded in a corral before entry. We then waited almost an hour to get order service once we were seated. Every server that we tried to give our order to stated "they were not our server."Also, the staff showing people to an open seats(if you were so lucky to be shown to a seat) stated they had nothing to do with taking orders. After raising a mild fuss, one of the "not our server"gentlemen agreed to take our order. Every patron around us at entry and at the table were complaining about all of the above, but most people will not take the complaints to pen and paper. This show was general admission which should have been first come first served for entry. If there is a logical explanation for these processes, I would love to hear it. We did enjoy the show which was the saving grace.
I always see The Manhattans each time they are here in the DMV area. Simply put, The Manhattans are awesome. Of particular note, Gerald and the group included his son on the show. That's the second time for the son. I enjoyed the son also. I do plan to see The Manhattans at their next visit here in the DMV.
My wife and I have been a fans of the Manhattans for many yes. This show was disappointing to say the least. We were hoping for an up tempo and ballad performance from the group but all we got were slow ballads. It's was depressing. We still love you Manhattan but please work on the shows presentation. And find a 4th singer for the harmony!
It was a great show! I will be going back ❤️. I saw them in May and I will return next year
The Manhattens still got it! Awesome singing and plenty of charisma! Gerald Alston's voice is incredible. Hasn't missed a beat! Wonderful evening! I love the idea of open seating at the Birchmere but that getting there hours before to get a ticket to still wait another 90 minutes takes some of the fun out of the show. It has to be an easier way - thinking now!
All I can say is WOW! Me & my friends enjoyed every bit of The Manhattans as well as the customer service & food at The Birchmere.
The show was the dramatics,Heatwave,Blue Magic and Gerald Alston and Manhattans. Great show but Gerald and Heatwave stole the show. Gerald is just a solid performer. He gives the audience their money’s worth
This was an excellent "old school"concert. Great seats, great venue and great music.
The show was great. All 3 gentlemen have fantastic voices. It was great hearing the greatest hits as well as the new. Hopefully everyone will download. So refreshing to hear real music again!
The Manhattans were sharp and really put on a show. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.
Great performance! Brought back a lot of great memories!
It was a Stella performance.Excellent,Excellent, Excellent, Excellent,Excellent,Excellent show.
Does 1960s and 70s band is still going strong! Birchmere was a perfect place to see them in their synchronized rhythms and dance moves. Doesn’t get better than this.
The Manhattans brought a great show. We had a wonderful time. It was good hearing the Manhattans sing their songs. The group was amazing and Gerald Alston, the lead singer, still has it going on.
I took my Mom as a Christmas/Birthday gift. She loves The Manhattans. The show was very good. I just may go back and see them again in November.
I was born in 1972, but I remember all the great songs . The soulful sounds of Love, Heartbreak, and Making Up to Love Again were such a memorable soul soundtrack of my parents generation, my generation, and equally relevant today! R&B and Soul Masters!!!
These guys are fantastic. Great songs, sung well with over the top stage presence and audience engagement.
I was in the last row, last seat in the corner with 2 other people. People constantly walking back and forth. Others waiting to be seated.
Music, Drinks,Food, Customer service all wonderful and made my experience more enjoyable. But the upstairs upper pier needs more lighting because there was so many senior citizens who couldn't see the stairs and how to get to there seats and I ended up having to go downstairs and ask the manager to send a usher upstairs because there was no ushers to assist and help. And the manager did and it made the experience even more wonderful.
