My husband purchased tickets to this show for me and our son-in-law, as we are both avid true crime fans. Neither of us were familiar with Dr. Rachel Toles and her previous works - but I can say that has changed completely! I found Dr. Toles to be credible and extremely knowledgeable. I have read dozens of books on serial killers and murderers and watched thousands of documentaries and TV Shows on these subjects - and I still learned something new! For me, a big takeaway from this show was just how human we all are - that under the right (or wrong, depending on how you look at it) circumstances, any one of us could be a breath away from committing a horrific crime. She helps you see killers as human beings, but doesn't ask you to forgive them for their heinous acts. I do believe it is her hope that by educating people more deeply about what creates killers, we can hopefully intervene sooner and, as a society, create fewer of these mass murderers. I haven't stopped talking about the show since attending three days ago - and am now following her on social media so that I will know when her new book is published. If you follow true crime, you won't be disappointed attending The Psychology of a Murderer.
Well structured, intresting, engaging. Be sure to attend prepared with questions for the Q&A portion of the show. My only criticism is that I want more!!!!!
I could have listened to Dr. Toles all night. She was excellent -- her presentation, her knowledge was invaluable. I came away with a new framework on how to look at criminals and be "curious". I cannot wait until she comes near me again -- I will not hesitate to buy a ticket.
This is the second time thatvI have attended Dr. Toles shows. She is amazing. My friends and I loved it.
I can honestly say that I truly enjoyed this presentation. Not only entertaining but I learned a lot about how important it is to look at both sides of the story and deep dive into what is not being reported on all the media sites. Dr. Rachel Toles is excellent presenting cases in a unique easy to understand format. I highly recommend to any true crime fan.
Excellent show, Dr. Toles was super interesting and a great speaker. We loved the show!
I wasn't sure what to expect with this event but knew I've long been fascinated with the question of what drives some people to commit horrific crimes. What is it about their circumstances and their biology that drives them to kill another person? The presenter, Dr. Toles, clearly knows her stuff, was engaging, thoughtful, and the evening was well structured with about an hour of presentation, accompanied by photos and videos, followed by around another hour of answering audience questions submitted electronically. That's all the mostly positive. What I didn't like or what didn't sit well with me was the overall feeling that this was much less an educational and serious discussion into the aberrant psychology of killers and much more for the purposes of entertainment. It felt somewhat voyeuristic at the expense of the victims, who were very much an afterthought with little more than "I don't condone the actions of the murderer"as acknowledgment that there is a lot more to the stories being shared that is deserving of our attention. The lighthearted atmosphere and excitement expressed by the audience as each high profile murder to be discussed was revealed made me feel somewhat ashamed to be in the audience. The thought of, "What if that was my wife or my child who was killed and this audience is applauding the discussion of their killer." Personally, I would have preferred an intellectual deep dive into the psychology of the chosen killers and the science of abnormal psychology with less fan fare and less concern for "entertaining"the audience. I appreciate Dr. Toles efforts to bring a topic as serious as this to the general public, beyond academic circles, and deliver it in a way that educates and entertains. No easy task. In this, she succeeds. In the end, I felt worse for having been in the audience. Once again, the killer took center stage from the victim who seemed to serve as little more than a footnote. In balancing the desire to understand and have empathy for the killers with acknowledging the magnitude of the harm caused and respect for the victims and their families, she fails.

She was awesome, funny, smart and with loads of information! I took my daughter and she loved it too. Seats were a little too crowded though, not enough space in between to move.
