TOMMY JAMES AND THE SHONDELLS IN CONCERT:

The bubblegum pop movement of the '60s wouldn't have been the same without the beloved tunes of Tommy James and the Shondells, whose prominent music took off during the height of the era. It's been almost 50 years since the release of their 1966 debut Hanky Panky, but the band is still impressing audiences across the nation with their expansive catalog of upbeat classics. His voice still on-point and smooth as ever, Tommy James and the gang hit the road once again for a nostalgia-heavy 2014 tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

After dabbling in several musical projects as a preteen, Tommy James recorded his first demo "Hanky Panky" under the formal name The Shondells in 1964. The song wasn't an initial hit, but it achieved popularity the following year when it was unearthed by a local dance promoter, launching Tommy and the Shondells onto the music radar. Their 1966 debut album Hanky Panky skyrocketed the title single to commercial success, landing on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and garnering the band national attention. Seven more successful albums followed as Tommy and the Shondells racked up twelve Top 40 hits and another chart-topper, "Crimson and Clover." James set out on a solo venture in 1971, attaining success once more with 23 gold singles and nine gold and platinum-certified albums. Reunited in 2014, Tommy and the Shondells are ready to turn back the clock on a string of highly anticipated tour dates.

It was a great show. Unfortunately toward the end Tommy became ill and although he tried to continue it was obvious something was not right. We were disappointed that the show was cut short, but we had a great time and we’re very glad to hear that he was ok.

  • Tommy James Great Concert

by Music fan on 4/10/25Paramount Theatre - AndersonRating: 5 out of 5

One of the top 10 best concerts I’ve seen. Tommy sounded even better than the records that I listened to w/my parents & skated to. So many of his songs have been covered by different generations & loved. The whole band was great & the guitar players were amazing. I would highly recommend seeing Tommy James & the Shondells.

As always Tommy puts on a great show! Total legend . Just wish he would play more songs instead of going in to the audience.

  • Great Show

by Bill on 4/1/25Paramount Theatre - AndersonRating: 5 out of 5

The venue is awesome. Tommy James and the Shondells rocked it out, of the Paramont Theatre. The show was fantastic. With late model equipment they put on a great show.

  • Loved Tommy James / loudness was unbearable!

by PT on 4/1/25Paramount Theatre - AndersonRating: 4 out of 5

First time at this venue, not sure if it’s the band’s fault or the venue ! Left within the first hour, so loud even with earplugs my ears hurt. Took my sister here for her 80th birthday, and she was miserable even with earplugs and plugging her ears. Very disappointing. Wish we could have seen it until the end but no way! I attend live music every week with hundreds of concerts behind me this volume was the worst!
