About

Wayne Newton is a singer and entertainer from Norfolk, Virginia. Over the course of his decades-long career, Newton has become synonymous with the glitz and glamor of the Strip, earning the nickname “Mr. Las Vegas.” Getting his start in the 1950s, the then-teen singer was mentored by superstars like Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Bobby Darin. Some of his best-known songs include “Danke Schoen,” “Red Roses for a Blue Lady” and “Daddy, Don’t You Walk So Fast.” By 1963, he had become a headliner at the Flamingo in Las Vegas and worked his way to being named the highest-grossing act in Sin City history. Through the 1990s, Newton headlined shows at Caesars Palace, MGM Grand Las Vegas and Bally’s before signing a 10-year contract in 1999 as the first-ever headliner-in-residence at the Stardust Resort and Casino — though the deal was cut short in 2005 as a result of the venue’s demolition. In 2016, Newton performed his lounge show Up Close & Personal at Bally’s, followed by his 2019 stint at Caesars Palace to celebrate his 60th year on stage. In 2024, Newton will embark on his Up Close and Personal Tour.

  • Wayne Newton

I have seen many shows and concerts through the years. This was far and above them all. The energy that Mr. Newton brings into the stage is unequally. He was very gracious and truly was enjoying performing.

  • An entertaining and informative evening with the legend

by Kraig K on 3/8/25Bugsy's Cabaret at Flamingo - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Always have appreciated but never seen Mr. Las Vegas live. “Up Close and Personal” is well organized with a combination of stories of the start of Wayne Newton’s career and celebrity interactions laced with humor but also displaying both his musical and singing talents. The historical clips were just as entertaining and worked into the show well. A very nice evening.

  • I am a Wayniac!

by Ladybug on 2/27/25Bugsy's Cabaret at Flamingo - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Wayne Newton is a living legend. He has worked with so many people in his career, some you wouldn't even imagine! He made over 150 albums. He has perfect pitch and is self-taught on 13 instruments and can't read a lick of music. He is a gem of a human being. You need to see him and what better place than his own theatre in the Flamingo in Las Vegas?! He has star 001 on the Walk of Stars in Las Vegas! What more do you need? Seeing him at this event, I was front row and he came down to sing to me while holding my hand. After the show, I was honored with the chance to meet him and take pictures. I am a changed person having seen Wayne Newton. He is genuinely beautiful and full of sunshine. He's a wonderful person. He's charming, talented, and a fantastic entertainer. People could learn a thing or two from him. I hope he lives forever.

Wayne Newton was amazing. If you get the opportunity you should take it. You won’t ever see this kind of entertainer again.

He has lost some of his powerful voice, but still very entertaining. The show was like a meet and great in a very small showroom.. He shared numerous stories, photos and films that were extremely interesting and entertaining. You must see this legend !!

  • Legend

by Nene on 2/3/25Ameristar Casino and Hotel - Kansas CityRating: 3 out of 5

Delightful legend that has been performing for 80 years. Immediately we knew when he started talking that he has lost his voice after all these years. He did his best to put on a show and he still excels when playing his instruments, telling stories and interacting with the audience. Sadly, he should retire as his voice is gone and difficult to listen to. Someone should be kind to him and, as difficult as it would be, advise him to retire. God Bless him.

  • Fantastic Performance "Mr. Las Vegas"

by Grateful on 2/3/25Ameristar Casino and Hotel - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5

Wayne Newton did a fantastic performance. It was awesome with the flashbacks of how his career got started and who helped him along the way. He gave credit to those who helped and that meant a lot to his character. Would not have missed this opportunity to see him close up and close to home.
