  • Jon Anderson of Yes......Amazing!

by Awaken59 on 4/12/10B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

It was absolutely wonderful seeing Jon Anderson. He has not been in NY for two years due to illness and it was fantastic seeinghim again...healthy, in good spirits and sounding like the voice of an Angel at BB Kings. It was "bare bones" Jon and his voice was impeccable!!!!! All I can say is..."Jon.......please come back to New York soon!!!!!!!

  • Anderson was prolific.

Jon Anderson was prolific and gave a great, heartfelt performance at B.B. King. The crowd responded accordingly. It's obvious he was missed and we are all thrilled to have him well and singing strong again.

  • Jon Is Back In His Game

I saw my favorite singer of all time last night and he did not disappoint me. Also the fans were awesome to show there love of this man. I got inside this venue a little before 8 pm. The taped sounds of birds singing came on at 8 pm and Jon took the stage around 8:15 after being drawn to the stage by the fans applause. I loved every song he performed this night. His voice sounded great just like we all remember. Also his playing the instruments were right on spot. I saw no mistakes during the show. He played over 20 songs with no break inbetween. His voice is one of the most clearest purest sounding voices I have ever heard performed live. I could sit and listen to this man sing all night. I sure hope he comes out with a new album with all these great new songs soon so I can listen to them over and over again. My hats off to his wife Jane and his family and doctors for taking such good care of this truely special man. I hope to see Jon perform on stage for many years to come.

  • Jon Anderson at BB King's

by jmarsig on 4/12/10B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Great show - played all of the songs that a Yes fan could possibbly hope to hear and more. He sounded great. He was funny, engaged the crowd in between songs, and may have had more fun than we did. The stripped down, acoustic versions of the Yes songs were great. He played for 90 minutes straight and played portions of over 25 songs. I have seen Yes at the Garden and at Beacon about 10 times combined. This show ranked up with all of them. It's a shame the band isn't touring together and I am a huge fan of Squire, Howe, White, Wakeman, etc., but he is the voice and he was great. If he was playing again tonight, I would go again.

Really special performance and surprisingly good crowd. NY was a great show! Other longtime Yes fans seemed to really love it as well. Thank you Jon, please come back!!!

  • YES

NOt only was his voice as amazing as ever but he played the songs on a few different guitars and even played the keyboards. And you just wanna hug the guy. YES should be ashamed at the way the handled Jons illness. YES can have their clone but I will never see YES again without JOn singing. And last night what I witnessed was beyond words that could do him any justice. Bless you Jon anderson

  • Anderson's voice was diamond crystal clear!

by Richie411 on 4/12/10B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Yes about a dozen times going back to the Tales Tour in 1974. I have several Yes DVDs, as well. I'm a huge yes fan and have seen them three times with Benoit David. It's just not the same, and the third time...it got old in a hurry, sorry to say. The musicians sounded great, but the magic that Anderson contributes to the whole package really boosts Yes' music into the stratosphere. Would you want to see the Stones without Jagger? But, like fishing, a bad day at a Yes concert is better than a good day at work, so I continue to go. As for Jon, my first reaction when he walked onto the stage was that he appeared that he lost alot of weight and seemed almost frail. Looks can be deceiving. His voice was strong and crystal clear. He sounded great. He played many Yes tunes using a slightly different style and some pieces from solo albums, including "Olias"... It was just him and a variety of acoustic guitars. The small squeezed in venue at BB King's was not very comfortable. However, it was very intimate. The power of Jon's voice could be felt like at no other large concert hall. There was also quite a bit of banter going back & forth between him & the audience. Bottom line...His voice was amazing! It's obvious that he still has has a passion for Yes music...so Benoit, bow out and thank your lucky stars and move over for the master...Jon Anderson!!!

  • Jon sounds great!

by rdsmgb on 4/12/10B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Jon is looking and sounding healthy (albeit rather thin). So good to see him back onstage, and BB King's is a great, intimate venue to see him. 3rd time to see him there inlcuding his last visit with Paul Green School of Rock. Such a shame that he and YES are both on the road but separately. Surely they could slow down their schedule to accomodate him. I couldn't bring myself to go see them this time out without him. Fingers crossed for reconciliation.

  • Jon Anderson at B.B. King

by LMouse on 4/12/10B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Jon Anderson is a gentle, vibrant soul with a heart as big as all outdoors. His voice is still in great shape after all these years, his spirit is fresh and alive. The audience was in love with him last night, and you could feel the energy in the place--all positive and heartfelt. The venue was perfect for his songs, intimate and inviting. His short takes on Yes songs gave them a new slant that made them interesting to hear, without all the virtuosic bombast (not that there's anything wrong with that!) of the band. It was like hearing the old familiar songs for the first time. This concert couldn't have been a better experience!

  • Jon Anderson = Amazing

    by Bella35 on 4/9/10Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 5 out of 5

He was so amazing to see live. Even after all these years, the clarity of his voice is flawless. Great venue, great atmosphere, great performance. I would recommend Jon Anderson solo as a must-see!

  • Yes! Jon Anderson was great

Jon Anderson sounded great! This show is a must see for any Yes fan. Hey Chris Squire....... wake up man!

  • Jon Anderson can still stick the high notes

    by Ziggy61 on 4/8/10Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 5 out of 5

Though looking a bit fraile - JA was absolutely amazing when he began singing any and all of his various acoustical renditions. His voice was strong - clear - and historically angelic. Also loved the mix of songs and his humorous stories. Phenomenal

  • Jon Anderson, poet extraordinaire

    by celts17 on 4/8/10Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 5 out of 5

I thought the show was great, but I'm biased, as was probably every one in attendance. There wasn't much that was different from his last solo tour, some five years or so ago (some minor set list changes, but still had most of the standards you'd want to hear). And that's OK. I'm not going to see something new or groundbreaking. Jon's lyrics and music have been an important part of my life for over three decades, and whether he's touring solo or (fingers crossed) is back fronting YES: I'll be there. There aren't many acts that can create special moments (even goose bumps). But when Jon sang "should I remember every sorrow deeper than the wound? as all this happens far too fast, and night time comes too soon", it hit home. There are some things happening in my life that now, with clearer vision, I see I have placed undue focus on. Thank you Jon, for your wisdom. My first time at Showcase Live. Nice venue; the sound quality was excellent. The crowd was very receptive. I'm sure the majority have been to many a YES show, and it feels almost like you're welcoming home a family member who has been away for a while. I hope his health issues are now past him, and he'll continue to make new music and tour.

  • YES Anderson is great!

by stabor on 4/8/10Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 5 out of 5

Back from injuries and illnesses that would kick most of our butts into submitting to retirement, Jon Anderson is a spirit that burns bright. The voice was as strong as ever and the show was polished with creative new material and memorable stories full of humor.

  • What a great show.

    by MusicFan0512 on 4/8/10Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 5 out of 5

When Jon walked on to the stage, I was not sure what to expect. With all he has been through, we were worried that his voice would have suffered. Not so. He nailed it. I loved the set list, which relied less on his Yes days than I expected. He did sing most of my Yes favorites, The parts of his solo work ranged from Vangelis to Olias and Deseo.. This is a plus for me. He was warm and really responded well to the audience. I am thrilled he is back.

  • Jon is the Man!

    by HarpLady827 on 4/6/10The Studio - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

Jon's shows are always unforgetable. His voice was exquisite! I'm so glad he is feeling better & touring. I thought Jon's show in Hamilton on Saturday was better than the show Wed in Toronto. Jon seemed to have more pep in Sat's show. Jon is a very talented man & no one can top his voice. I could go to see Jon's show every night of the week. YES is not YES without Jon. Jon, thanks for the hug & kiss!

Went to see Jon with my 20 year old daughter, my older brother and his family, Jon Anderson put on a great show!!!! He performed some classic Yes songs and Jon looked happy to be there. He looked like he lost some weight from his illness but it did not take away from his performance. His voice sounded great!!!. I really enjoyed hearing him perform some new songs. They rank up there with his best songs. To hear him sing, Sweet Dreams, Time And A Word, You And I, Long Distance Runaround, Sharship Trooper, exerpt from Tales, I've Seen All Good People, Soon, Roundabout plus so much more was awesome. His banter with the crowd as usual created an easy laid back atmosphere. He created a really nice atmosphere before he came on when they played nature noises similar to the opening of Close To The Edge. Jon has to be one of my favorite singer songwriters of all time. I hope to see him in concert again!!! Long live Jon Anderson!!!!!!!!!!!!
