Old, and new material. new band was fantastic!!!!!
Too much fun! Kasey was great! Her band was great! The acoustics were great!
Great stage presence and a smoking band... who could ask for more? Me! and they delivered In spades. Who knew you could do a great rendition of Seven Nation Army with a banjo on lead? Great idea! I was tempted to follow her to NY I enjoyed the show so much.
Great show, great seats, great venue! My first time to see Kasey live. Kasey played some old stuff and some new stuff. The renditition of "I'm Alive" (new song) was excellent. Really got the croud going Loved it Loved it all! Thanks Kasey.
Kasey Chambers delivers great music and connects with the audience as well as any entertainer I have ever seen. Her new band members also brought a lot of energy to the performance. Unfortunately the Birchmere seating policy is very customer unfriendly.
Kasey and Bill were in characteristically great form at the Birchmere (Alexandria VA) with new backup that fit perfectly her evolving style of play. Her setlist complemented a new harder sound, with more electrification and amplification than earlier periods, especially when she sang with Shane Nicholson. Mixing old and new selections throughout, she relied as always on strong singing and her guitar playing has stepped up to match. Songs from her new album were featured, but she did not disappoint fans of Not Pretty Enough, Pony, The Captain and Barricades and Brickwalls which were delivered more as rock than country, The latter favorite was her choice for the final encore and she and band left the stage having rocked the appreciative audience out of their seats.
I have listened to Kasey Chambers music for 14 years but this is the first time I seen her live and it was great. Extremely entertaining and ton of fun. Kasey was very engaged with her fans the music was on point. The band was an interesting mix of young and old that worked so well. Kasey's father showed much skill with multiple guitars and added solid vocals. The young guys showed skill beyond their years while playing all of kasey's hits. Kasey is a great song writer and story teller and seeing her live punctuates the fact that she is extremely talented and entertaining. Great show and can't wait to see her again.
Kasey may be from Australia, but she has a pretty big following here in the USA. Wish she lived here so we could see her more often.
I've now had the good fortune to see Kasey live for a 2nd time, and it's an amazing show. Her voice is so clear and so controlled - it's amazing how much raw talent she has - one of the few cases where I'd say live is better than an album. The rapport she has with her bandmates (including her wonderful father) is great, and she welcomes you and makes you feel like you are one of her friends.
Easily one of the best concert experiences I've ever had. The small venue allows for an intimate feeling, Kasey always makes the audience feel special, and the musicians she brings along with her are amazing.
An evening with Casey is more than just about the music - it's like you've been invited into her family home. Casey is a lovely storyteller, with her stories of growing up and being on the road complementing nicely with her music. All our favourites were played along with some fun musical arrangements that allow each member of the band to shine in their own way. With the homely atmosphere of the Birchmere, it was a great night out.
Kasey Chambers was absolutely amazing. Her patter with the crowd was unabashed and playful. Her storytelling was tremendous. The music was super -- she took requests, played some new music, and otherwise entertained our socks off! If you get the chance, you simply MUST go see her!!
Concert was excellent!! Fun and very entertaining!! Loved it. We have been to the Birchmere 4 times and have always had excellent service...this time it totally SUCKED!! We were not even approached for at least 15 minutes, then I got my food and my husband did too but it was not what he ordered...so needless to say by the time I finished my dinner his finally came...we asked FIVE different servers where his food was. We were never asked if we wanted refills etc....SUCKED, SUCKED, SUCKED!! we were right of the stage...oh and my sweet potato must have been in the oven for a week....it was so overcooked I could not eat it...I would have sent it back but we had NO server!!
Great music. Great personality on stage, so we had a lot of fun. I think of this as mixing smart country, folk, and a little bluegrass.
She was amazing. She was a great story teller. It was cool that her father was in the band and did many songs with her.
Kasey Chambers was amazing!! She has an amazing voice and wonderful storytelling.
Kasey and her bandmates gave us a first rate show with lots of great music, amazing stories and a lot of great humor. The energy level at the sold out show was really high and the crowd loved her. The opening act, Owen Danoff, got the audience going, and they seemed to really love him and his music. It was a fantastic concert from beginning to end.
From the moment she walked onto the stage she and her band were very enertaining. Her small band with her dad on lead guitar, did a very nice job. Kasey's strong beautiful voice as well as her great personality made it a very fun night.
After Bill Chambers, Kasey's dad, led off with a couple of good songs from his new album, delivered in his raspy, story telling voice the abundantly pregnant Kasey came out on stage to perform some of her older favorites like "Not Pretty Enough", "Pony" and "the Captain" and a couple from her new album "Little BIrd". Kasey was delightful and paired very well vocally with her violinist, Ashley Dallas (who hopes to solo album soon), all the time regaling us with stories of her childhood and later touring the world as a singer. My 32 year old son, who was totally unfamiliar with Kasey, had a great time and ended up becoming a fan and even purchasing Bill's new album. I've been aware of Kasey Chambers for a few years and missed a chance to see her at Irving Plaza a couple of years ago. Really glad for the opportunity at the Bowery Ball Room.
A great show at a great venue, Kasey Chambers delivers a strong performance. Kasey has one of the most powerful voices in music, with a clear and clean sound. While a native of Australia, she sounds as if she could be from the American Midwest, ranging from Country to Bluegrass. Right now, she is touring for Little Bird, which is her latest release. As good as The Captain and Barricades & Brickwalls, Kasey again visits her childhood and life, singing from the heart. Her father is one of her big collaborators in song writing, and the influence in the music is clearly there. Especially in a feeling that this music really means something to her, and she wants to share that with the audience. The show is a real joy to watch, and she is very entertaining even when not singing. A definite opportunity to take, if you've ever heard of her and want to actually see her perform live.
